All Eyes On Royal Randwick For The World's Richest Turf Race - The TAB Everest

The eyes of the world will be on Sydney this Saturday for the running of world’s richest race on turf – the $13 million The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick.

On a huge 10 race card, the $13 million The TAB Everest has drawn together the strongest field of sprinters seen on Australian tracks in many decades.

Amongst the 10 individual Group 1 winners is US Navy Flag, trained by one of the world’s premier trainers in Aidan O’Brien for Coolmore, and to be ridden by star UK jockey Ryan Moore.

The Australian Turf Club’s runner in The TAB Everest is Osborne Bulls, owned by one of the world’s biggest breeding and racing operations in Godolphin.

Osborne Bulls – to be ridden by star Sydney jockey Tommy Berry – is at $17 TAB Fixed Odds.

Last year’s inaugural The TAB Everest winner Redzel – trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and to be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy – is the $6.50 TAB Fixed Odds favourite to win this year’s race in a wide open betting market.

Six of the 12 runners are under double-figure odds, while the “outsider” of the field Le Romain is just $18 TAB Fixed Odds.

One of Australia’s most popular sprinters – the grey flash Chautauqua – will lead the field out on to the track for The TAB Everest, which is Race 7 at 4.15pm.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Officer Jamie Barkley said Royal Randwick was ready to host Australia’s richest race.

“The TAB Everest has captured the imagination and attention of the Australian public like no other racing event,” Mr Barkley said.

“We are thrilled to see such a quality field including an international run as this morning rated a Heavy 9 with the prospect of an upgrade before tomorrow’s first race.

“The track has coped very well with the rain this week and the forecast is for the showers to ease ahead of Saturday,” Mr Ramdhani said.

“We are hoping for the track to get to a Heavy 8 before the start of the program.”

Across Royal Randwick tomorrow a range of undercover and pop-up food and bar outlets will be open.

The popular The Mews food precinct continues on Saturday with a range of food outlets spread across the Leger Lawn.

The Harrolds Fashion Chute will also be open for ladies and gents on the Octagonal Lawn, and offers a $30,000 prize pool, including flights to any one of Emirates 40 European destinations.

Travel to and from Royal Randwick on Sydney trains, buses, ferries and light rail services is included in pre-purchased general admission tickets, along with ATC Annual Membership cards.

All patrons are encouraged to use public transport to and from Royal Randwick on The TAB Everest Day.

Royal Randwick and all ATC racecourses provide limited free parking and free high capacity WiFi.
