Gold Donation Day At Hawkesbury On Sunday (17th July)

By John Curtis

Hawkesbury's rescheduled final meeting of the season this Sunday (17th July) will be a FREE ENTRY day.

However, Hawkesbury Race Club is asking patrons to make a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to the NSW Hawkesbury SES Unit, which again is doing a remarkable job to help people once more hit by the catastrophic flooding in the area.

“The SES workers are amazing, and we would really appreciate our patrons on Sunday week donating to assist them in continuing to lend such invaluable support to the community,” Hawkesbury Race Club's chief executive James Heddo, said this morning.

Hawkesbury had planned a Godolphin Family Fun Day for this Sunday’s scheduled meeting, which has had to be moved back a week after more than 200mm of rain deluged the area.

“Unfortunately because of the circumstances, we will not be able to go ahead with the kids’ activities on Sunday week,” Heddo said.

“With the change of date, it is a good opportunity to again show our support for the local SES Unit by making a gold coin donation.

“And it’s the last day of the NSW school holidays, so hopefully we can still get a good crowd to wrap up the racing year.”

The eight-race program remains the same for the rescheduled meeting, and fresh nominations will close with Racing Australia at 11am on Tuesday (July 12). Acceptances will be taken at 9am next Thursday (July 14).
