Outcome Of Jockey Hugh Bowman's Appeal

The Racing NSW Appeal Panel gave consideration to an appeal lodged by jockey Hugh Bowman in respect to a period of suspension commencing on 5 April 2020 and expiring on 24 April 2020, handed down to him for a breach of AR131(b), of having not ridden Avilius out approaching the finish of the Group 1 Tancred Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 28 March 2020.

The appeal today was conducted by video conference, with jockey Hugh Bowman represented by Mr Wayne Pasterfield and the Stewards by Chairman of Stewards, Marc Van Gestel.

The Appeal Panel dismissed the appeal on the finding of guilt. However, the appeal on penalty was allowed with the period of suspension to commence on Sunday, 5 April 2020 and to expire on Saturday, 18 April 2020 on which day he may ride.
