Outcome Of Appeal By Licensed Jockey Jake Duffy

Licensed jockey Jake Duffy lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137(a) after his ride on Regal Reece in Race 7 (Corowa RSL Club 3 Course Carvery Every Sunday Class 1 and Maiden Plate, 1600m) at Corowa Racecourse on Sunday, 30 December 2018.

Following a Stewards inquiry, Mr Duffy was suspended for a period commencing Sunday, 6 January 2019 and to expire on Tuesday, 15 January 2019 on which day he may ride.

This Appeal was heard on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 by the Southern Districts Racing Association Appeal Panel in the Stewards Room, Wagga Wagga Racecourse commencing at 1pm.

The SDRA Appeal Panel gave the following orders:

  1. Appeal against finding of breach of AR137(a) dismissed
  2. Appeal against severity of penalty dismissed
  3. Penalty to commence on Sunday, 6 January 2019 and to expire Tuesday, 15 January 2019 on which day he may ride
  4. 50% of deposit refunded
