Jockey Quotes - Pago Pago Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the G3 Bowermans Commercial Furniture Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.

Kerrin McEvoy (Shaquero): “Drawn one we were going to get a nice energy saving run for the first past and once he got there he did show his skills. He’s a nice horse for sure.”

“Knowing that he was planning on winning today and going into the Golden Slipper backing up, you’d like to think there is that little bit left there. I wouldn’t be afraid being on his side Golden Slipper day if we draw well and he can have the right sort of run. He’s a nice colt and he deserves his spot in the field.”

Rachel King (Ingratiating): “Massive run. Just had to get a little bit far back.”

Nash Rawiller (Baranof): “He was on one rein much of the race. Thought he might have been feeling something slightly. Next time.”

Josh Parr (Tiger Of Malay): “Terrific effort. He’s still maturing and still learning about it. He’s a nice horse still to come.”

Tommy Berry (Hilal): “I had to get back too far to get cover from the gate. He’s getting a bit more dour which we wanted to see that and he relaxed much better heading to the Sires/Champagne. That’s positive.”

James McDonald (Head Of State): “On face value a little bit disappointing but he’s always a horse looking for further. When he gets there he will come into his own.”

Robbie Dolan (Mandalong Cash): “Needs time.”

Tim Clark (Converge): “Nice run first up. Will continue to improve.”

Andrew Adkins (Mazu): “Beautiful run. Look forward to seeing him in the future.”

Sam Clipperton (The Bullring): “Disappointing.”

Regan Bayliss (Tristate): “Not a bad run. Had to do a little bit of work from the barrier but should be a nice horse in the future.”

Glen Boss (With Your Blessing): “He went terrific. He’s got a really good future that horse. Certainly went a lot better than his odds suggest but he’s a nice horse.”

Jason Collett (Bruckner): “Disappointing.”

Brenton Avdulla (Awe): “Really nice horse. Very raw but I think he has a bit of quality about him for the future.”

Michael Dee (Maven Spirit): “Not good enough.”
