Wyong Winners - Tips For Sunday 30th August

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Wyong on Sunday.

Race 1 - 12:50PM COCA-COLA CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Taking a chance on 4. Lunar Rain in a wide open race. Jason Coyle hasn’t wasted any time in stepping her straight out to the mile this preparation given she relished 1850m at the backend of last campaign to finally break her maiden. Will get the last crack.

Dangers: 2. She’s Fearless peaks now third up on the quick turnaround. Looks to want the mile now and hasn’t found a deep race. 5. Elon is a big improver on top of the ground while the only knock on 7. Rockness Angel is the price.

How to play it: Lunar Rain WIN ($21 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 1:25PM TAB.COM.AU PROV & CTRY MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

Willing to scrap the inglorious last 11. Miss Japan ran at Goulburn a fortnight ago, putting it down to the heavy track. She did start a well-backed $2.50 favourite. The four-year-old daughter of Deep Impact maps to get a soft run in what is a very weak race.

Dangers: 6. Stark was only beaten by La Tigresa by two lengths at Newcastle last week in a much deeper race than this and deserves to be favourite. The blueblood four-year-old stretches out to the mile for the first time.

How to play it: Miss Japan WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 2:00PM TRACSIDE AUTOMOTIVE 4YO&UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

First starter 3. Numbers Game was the runner crunched when markets first went up. That’s no great surprise when you look at the make up of this field. There isn’t much depth. The four-year-old won his only trial. Continue to monitor the market with him.

Dangers: The Bjorn Baker-trained stablemate 1. Oslo steps out for Baker for the first time and will knock off a maiden eventually while 6. Sublime Lady is the best roughie. The barrier just looks tricky.

How to play it: Numbers Game WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 4 - 2:36PM TEAM THOROUGHBRED NSW 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

9. Elizabeel has been hard in the market in town in all four of her runs to date. The latest of those was first up at Canterbury when Raison D’etre was too slick. Ran third behind Peltzer and Overlord last preparation. This is no gimme but she’s better than provincial class.

Dangers: 2. El Buena returns a gelding having shown glimpses of talent as a two-year-old. 6. Wuddacuddashudda was nosed out by Miss Canada on debut at Newcastle and that filly has since placed in a Group race.

How to play it: Elizabeel WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 5 - 3:11PM WYONG RACE CLUB LA GIOCONDA - F&M BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Bye See produced an eye-catching run first up for Brett Lazzarini but hasn’t fired a shot since on heavy tracks. Back to provincial company and getting onto a good track we could see a sharp form reversal from this seven-year-old.

Dangers: 1. Our Winnie has been running okay in town since returning from a bleeding attack. Well placed here and her best would win it’s just whether she can reproduce it now. 5. Hard Lady kept chasing at Newcaslte last start.

How to play it: Bye See WIN ($15 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 3:46PM CARLTON DRAUGHT WYONG CUP PRELUDE - BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

Very small field after scratchings which should see 1. Frenzied get control from the front with the Waterhouse and Bott stable pairing up with Nash Rawiller. He covered a lot of ground last start at Newcastle and was brave to hang on for fourth.

Dangers: 7. Prince Of Arragon finished in front of Frenzied in that same race but had a soft run up the fence. Frenzied can turn the tables. 5. Malfy is the most progressive of the trio with two wins from his three starts.

How to play it: Frenzied WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 7 - 4:21PM DE BORTOLI WINES BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Adam Duggan has been very selective about the first up placement of his smart sprinting mare 2. Miss Fox. She won three straight last preparation and looked sharp in a recent trial alongside open class galloper Junglized.

Dangers: 6. Bring Glory is another lightly-raced sprinter with a great strike rate kicking off his preparation. Looks to have improved again if his trials are any guide. Just has a wide draw to overcome.

How to play it: Miss Fox WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 8 - 4:56PM WYONG'S NEXT RACE DAY FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 4 IS CUP DAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

5. Cultural Amnesia brings strong two-year-old form to the table and his two trials this time back suggest he has returned as well as ever. Failed in the G1 Sires Produce the last time we saw him but had come to the end of his preparation. Holds a Golden Rose nomination.

Dangers: 10. Wild Chap matched motors with a smart one in War Weapon last start and warrants respect. 4. Aspect Ratio has caught the eye in her trials but will be better over further and maps to give away a huge start.

How to play it: Cultural Amnesia WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
