Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of Mr Riccardo 'Rick' "The Boss" Pisaturo OAM, aged 100 years.

The late Rick Pisaturo with his beloved horses

Italian-born, Rick was brought here as a prisoner of war and built his cattle breeding company Mandalong Stud from scratch in 1958.

By 1968 his shorthorns had broken every record nationwide. His contributions earned him an Order of Australia for his service to the cattle industry.

In later years he concentrated on breeding and owning thoroughbred racehorses, many carrying the Mandalong moniker of which were trained by Gary Nickson and sported the pink, black striped sleeves & cap silks.

Among his best horses were Mandalong Kiss (Rosehill & Canterbury (twice) winner), Mandalong Roman (Cowra & Gosford x2), Mandalong Rambo (Bathurst & Queanbeyan) and Mandalong Cash (Nowra, Canberra).

Rick was the much loved father of Richard, Henry & Rebecca, loving Pa to his grandchildren & great grandchildren and will be missed by all his Family & Friends.

Family & friends are invited to attend a celebration of Rick's life at the Big Barn, William Inglis Sales Complex, 155 Governor Macquarie Drive, Warwick Farm on Friday, 23 September 2022 commencing at 11am.

Please RSVP to Henry henry@henrysrural.com.au by 2pm Wednesday 21 September.
