Racing Industry Brings Christmas Cheer To Sick Kids

Jockeys Tye Angland and Andrew Adkins spreading Christmas cheer at Westmead Children's Hospital.

Racing personalities played Santa at The Children’s Hospital At Westmead today, distributing hundreds of toys to sick kids.

$11,000 in donations was collected from jockeys, trainers, owners, stable staff and other industry participants for the annual toy drive, which is now in its 22nd year.

Leading Sydney jockeys Tye Angland and Andrew Adkins were among the visitors to the hospital today, spending time with the kids and brightening their day.

“I want to thank these jockeys who took time out of their busy schedules, Phillip O’Brien, Steve Hart, Karen Day and my family for helping me, and every single person who donated to this cause,” organizer Malcom Fitzgerald said.

“Without their generosity, we wouldn’t be able to put big smiles on the kids' faces.”
