Applications For Positions Of Independent Directors (Kembla Grange) - Close Today!!

Illawarra Turf Club Limited (ITC) and Racing NSW are seeking applications to fill three (3) independent Director positions.

About Us
This is an amazing opportunity to join the Board of Directors for one of New South Wales’ most historic and respected racing clubs, Illawarra Turf Club (ITC).

Located at Kembla Grange, just south of Wollongong, the ITC has been a cornerstone of Thoroughbred racing in the Illawarra region for over 180 years with archives revealing the first race meeting being held in 1834.

In 2019, Racing NSW introduced The Gong - a marquee race meeting held at Kembla Grange designed to showcase metropolitan quality horses and bringing black-type racing to the region. Held annually in November, The Gong is a $1 million race over 1600 metres, quickly becoming one of the most anticipated events on the NSW racing calendar which is supported by The Warra.

The race has not only drawn proven black-type runners but has also significantly boosted tourism and community engagement in the Illawarra region.

Combining rich heritage with modern excitement, the Illawarra Turf Club continues to grow in stature, offering an exceptional racing experience for enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The ITC Board of Directors are responsible to oversee governance, strategic direction, policy implementation, and management of the Club.

About You
Illawarra Turf Club is seeking candidates who are committed to strengthening the Club and shaping its future as a leading thoroughbred racing and training centre within provincial NSW.

People experienced and qualified in law, accounting, business management, commerce, construction, marketing and event management or other key business skills are encouraged to apply. Governance experience is highly recommended. While racing industry experience is advantageous, it is not essential.

Appointment Process
A Selection Panel, convened by Racing NSW, will review applications, shortlist candidates, and conduct interviews. Final appointments will be made by Racing NSW based on the Selection Panel’s recommendations and the skills needed to complement existing Board members.

Special Conditions
It is important that members of the Board are free from any business or other relationship that could materially interfere (or could reasonably be perceived to materially interfere) with the independent exercise of that director’s judgment.

Applications are invited from candidates residing in the Wollongong, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Sutherland, Campbelltown, Wingecarribee & Wollondilly local government areas (or who will at the time of appointment reside in the local government area).
