Racing NSW Stipendiary Stewards Traineeship(s)

Racing NSW is the representative body appointed for leadership and regulation of the thoroughbred horse racing throughout NSW.

Racing NSW Stipendiary Stewards are acknowledged both nationally and internationally, having responsibility for the administration and control of racing in NSW.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen to obtain a Stipendiary Steward traineeship in this exciting industry.

Two traineeships are to be conducted through Racing NSW with the successful applicants undertaking a program with both on and off the job training primarily within the Stewards Department based at Racing NSW Head Office, Sydney.

If you are decisive, proactive and self-motivated and have:

• a genuine interest in horse racing
• excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written communication
• the ability to work well under pressure
• a knowledge of the Rules of Racing
• proven keyboard skills and demonstrated knowledge in Word and Excel (min 40 wpm)
• practical horsemanship skills
• the ability to work well both independently and part of a team
• a valid driver’s licence

then we’re keen to hear from you.

Applicants with industry experience and or equine/legal qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Due to the inherent nature of a traineeship in the Stewards Department, your program will require you to work on a five out of seven-day roster basis and attend venues and racetracks throughout the greater Sydney region.

Shortlisted applicants will undergo a probity check. The provision of disclosure statements and adherence to the Racing NSW Code of Conduct for Stipendiary Stewards are necessary requirements.

Interested? Please outline details of your practical experience in a covering letter and provide your résumé by email to Philip Dingwall, Deputy Chairman of Stewards, at pdingwall@racingnsw.com.au

Applications close on Friday, 15 December 2017.
