Position Vacant - Apprentice Chef (Newcastle)

Turn your passion for cooking into a career ... Newcastle Jockey Club's catering operation spans a variety of offerings including formal restaurant, large banquet settings and retail outlets and we are looking for a culinary superstar ready to learn!

Channel your enthusiasm, punctuality and flexibility into your new role as Apprentice Chef at NJC. Newcastle Racecourse comes alive 30 race days each year for action packed racedays including Spring Carnival, Jungle Juice, The Hunter, Boxing Day Races, Newmarket plus mid week and Saturday race meetings.

Qualifications & Experience
You're a team player keen to understand food and beverage operations in its entirety
You are well-groomed with a high standard of personal hygiene
You have a passion for food and cooking
You are currently enrolled in a Commercial Cookery course OR you are ready to sign up for one

Tasks & responsibilities
Work under the guidance of the Head Chef and learn the art of menu planning & recipe card development
Learn how to maintain a high level of cleanliness within the kitchen
Be exposed to all sections within the kitchen as your experience and knowledge grows
Experience working across casual and formal restaurants and large scale events
