Racing NSW is responsible for the leadership and regulation of thoroughbred horse racing in NSW including the provision of services for the training of apprentice jockeys in this state.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a mentor and coach to join the training department of Racing NSW as Head Jockey Coach.

The role would suit someone wishing to provide leadership to Racing NSW’ jockey coaches and skills training to apprentice jockeys and prospective apprentices.

As Head Jockey Coach you will be responsible for the effective instruction of Racing NSW jockey coaches and the coaching of prospective or current apprentice jockeys in NSW. Your role will focus on the management and successful development of riders and raceday coaching.

To be successful in this role you:

  • will have experience as a professional jockey
  • be able to provide team support and a hands-on management style
  • are vibrant, innovative and self motivated
  • have a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure
  • have superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • be prepared to travel to race meetings and various locations if required
  • be prepared to undertake required assessment and workplace training
  • have a current working with children check or prepared to obtain one and
  • be prepared to obtain a Training and assessment qualification should that be required
