Employment Opportunity - Accounts & Payroll Officer (Hawkesbury Race Club)

About Hawkesbury Race Club:
Hawkesbury Race Club has built a reputation as a premier racecourse on the provincial racing circuit in NSW. Our facility is located in the picturesque Hawkesbury Valley and features a 4-star motel, as well as a function centre and multiple food and beverage outlets.

About the Role:
The Accounts and Payroll Officer will provide professional payroll and accounts support across all areas of our business, and be the first point of contact for all accounts enquiries, whether via phone, in person or online.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, duties will include but not be limited to:
- Collection of all timesheets for permanent, part time and casual staff;
- Processing of weekly payroll for core staff of 40 as well as event casuals which may include up to 230 staff;
- Process all associated payments including Superannuation, payroll and any other payroll related payments;
- Interpretation of and calculation of timesheets in accordance with appropriate Awards and Agreements, as well as the Fair Work Act and other relevant legislation;
- Keep up to date with Award amendments and manually adjust pay rates in Xero as required;
- Enter all relevant payroll information from spreadsheet into Xero Accounting System;
- Setting up new employees and manage in Xero including TFN, Superannuation, all leave entitlements etc;
- Calculate and report on leave entitlements;
- Classify and process accounts payable and receivable data;
- Oversee correct invoicing, coding and collection process for all outstanding accounts;
- Oversee the correct preparation of the accounts payable process for all creditors and present to the CEO for approval and sign off on a weekly basis;
- Prepare all raceday floats including gate entry, ATM, bar and snack bar floats;
- Assign cash floats to bar & catering casual staff;
- Load/Unload ATM’s;
- Maintaining the Club’s equipment register;
- Assist in coordinating Insurances;
Plus much more!

This is a full-time role general working Monday to Friday within business hours, but we require someone with flexibility to work weekends at times to support race day activities.

For the right applicant this could be a part time role, working 30 hours/week.

About You:
We are looking for a team player with strong payroll and accounting skills who enjoys a varied role and has a proven track record working with a small team.

It’s essential that you have an excellent understanding of all aspects of payroll, including Award interpretation, leave management and payroll set up.

You will possess exceptional Xero accounting software experience, with experience using Tanda or similar rostering/payroll software.

Above all you will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, advanced computer skills and be a reliable team player who can work well as part of a team and also autonomously.
