Madi Derrick Claims Initial Rising Star Win At Taree

Apprentice Madi Derrick celebrated her first Rising Star Series victory after winning Heat 4 at Taree on Sunday (19th December).

Derrick took the honours with Euroworld ($4.80) for trainer Nathan Doyle, defeating Dylan Gibbons (Zaru; $3.40 favourite) and Madeline Owen (Bay of Bengal; $21).

Georgina McDonnell maintains a narrow lead in the Series with nine points - Derrick has now joined Jenny Duggan and Dylan Gibbons in equal seconnd position on the ladder with eight points apiece.

Heat 5 will be run at Scone on Tuesday (21st December).
