Albury Winners - Tips For Friday 15th May

By Jack Webster

Race 1 - MEMBERS ALBURY SPRINT CLASSIC OPEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

5. Lunar Mojo has shown consistent form across all five starts, with his most impressive effort coming last time out at Wagga Wagga. Returning from a four-week break, he hit the line strongly and was narrowly denied late. Draws the fence here and looks well-placed to figure again.

Dangers: 2. Bomerton showed good promise in his initial campaign with a runner-up finish on debut and has been trialling well in the lead-up to his return. Looks ready to fire fresh. 5. Super Nic was impressive on debut at Wagga, hitting the line well and showing upside. With natural improvement, he can build off that performance and be competitive again. 7. American Russ has been holding steady form of late and with the right run can be in the mix here.

How to play it: Lunar Mojo WIN ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 2 - DLG ALUMINIUM & GLAZING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

2. Tap ‘N’ Run has tapered off in recent form but put in a solid, even effort at Canberra last start. Tends to peak third-up and has a strong record at this track, making him one to keep safe.

Dangers: 4. Mr Moppett resumes from a break and looks ready to go fresh with a trial win in the lead-up. Has a solid first-up record and shapes up to give a competitive effort. 8. Vella Magic also returns first-up and, with key scratchings, finds herself in the mix. Recent form has been plain, but she’s been competitive at this distance previously and could show up fresh. 6. Big Day Out is the next best and should be included among the chances.

How to play it: Tap ‘N’ Run WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 3 - TWIN CITY TRUCK CENTRE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

3. Heavenly Kiss delivered some respectable efforts in her early campaigns and now resumes her prep following a recent stable change from Ron Quinton. Third here in her first start for the new yard and looks well placed to make an impact again.

Dangers: 8. Gold Candle placed at Leeton last start and can show natural improvement with each run. Should be fitter now and can build on that effort. 4. Eyewhykaywhykay resumes with a trial win. Will need to overcome a wide draw but is worth keeping safe on debut. 6. Tassy Fox put in an even effort at Wagga. Race-fit now and one to keep an eye on.

How to play it: Heavenly Kiss WIN ($2.10 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 4 - CUSTOM AIR COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

5. Riverbend Unicorn has shown promise throughout his early campaigns, yet to break through but rarely far away. Returned with an improved effort first-up at Wagga and looks better for that run. Can be competitive here

Dangers: 2. Desert Opal has been showing steady signs of improvement and presents here on his home track, where he’s delivered competitive efforts in the past. Well placed to build on that form. 14. Shooting Firm showed improvement at Goulburn last start and will be looking to continue that progression here. A repeat of that effort puts her in the mix. 9. Deebaa is the next best, capable of taking another step forward after a string of even efforts.

How to play it: Riverbend Unicorn WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 5 - SURDEX STEEL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

5. Elastane Miss looks one of the key players in this field. Runner-up debut at this track with a strong on-pace effort to break through for a win here last start on rain-affected ground. In form and should be right among the finishers again.

Dangers: 4. Before The War has found a patch of consistency, finishing runner up in his last three starts. Draws well and continues to threaten for a breakthrough — right in the mix again. 1. Hellinda is right in the mix here after finding consistent form throughout her last campaign. Trialled well in the lead-up and looks ready to fire first-up. Drawn to be competitive and can make an immediate impact fresh. 2. Foreman’s Gully presents on his home track and has shown promise in recent outings. Placed nicely here and should be competitive with the right run.

How to play it: Elastane Miss WIN ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 6 - LEVEL ONE WINE BAR & CELLARS CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

16. Motorboat had been trending in the right direction before a disappointing effort last start at Nowra, where excuses can be made. Capable of bouncing back.

Dangers: 4. Spirit Lake appears to be building some consistency at picnic level and now steps up in class. Faces a tougher challenge here but could measure up if that form holds. 14. Scruff’s Magic brings winning form from two strong runs at non-TAB meetings and looks to make the jump in grade here. Worth keeping safe. 12. Freddy’s Shock ran well last time out at Wagga and has shown enough to be competitive again in this field.

How to play it: Motorboat WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 7 - JOHNSONS MME F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

3. Ruperts Red Rocket has had on and off form of late but kicked off this campaign with a runner up finish at Wangaratta. Finds a race and distance that suits and can be competitive again with a repeat of that effort.

Dangers: 6. Grinzinger Moon is drawn to get every chance and chases four straight wins. Freshened for five weeks and tuned up with a convincing trial win, looks well placed to continue her strong form. 13. Vis I Do didn’t fire last start at the Sapphire Coast with the race over early but had been racing well prior. Can bounce back and figure if he returns to that earlier form. 2. Smart Poppy has gone close in the past at this track/distance combination. Drawn to succeed and can figure.

How to play it: Ruperts Red Rocket WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 8 - YACKANDANDAH PARK COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

Really like 6. Imposing Tallulah to give a strong showing in this one. Presents on her home track where she does some of her best work and comes off a narrow defeat here last start after an on-pace effort. Draws inside, 2kg claim engaged, and handles all conditions. Shapes as the main threat.

Dangers: 14. Mayfair Hotel was a last-start winner and holds claims again if she can replicate that effort. Worth keeping safe. 2. Grey Lad showed encouraging signs first-up and can take another step forward here. 4. Kirk next best.

How to play it: Imposing Tallulah WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds)
