Vale Mr Vince Stein

Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of former trainer Vince Stein at 82.

Mr Stein and his wife Deidre prepared the great galloper Rising Prince – known as the Bathurst Bulldog – who won the 1985 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick and the 1985 WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley with Kevin Langby aboard.

It was reported at the time that Rising Prince “broke the TAB in Lithgow when he won the Queen Elizabeth”.

In later years Mr Stein prepared Northern Glow to win 11 races and Lord Mariachi (10 wins).

A service for Mr Stein was to be held in Beaudesert, Queensland.
