The city of Dubbo has a myriad of attractions such as the Western Plains Zoo, Old Dubbo Gaol and Royal Flying Doctor Experience, but one of the most popular social events is Sunday’s Dubbo Gold Cup Day.
There’s a big few days lined up from Friday culminating in Sunday’s Dubbo City & Gilgandra Toyota Dubbo Gold Cup Day.
“It all kicks off on Friday with the inaugural Dubbo Gold Cup Golf Day at the picturesque Dubbo Golf Club for a terrific afternoon that also supports our community and charity partner the Pink Angels,” said Sam Fitzgerald, General Manager of Dubbo Turf Club.

“Then on Saturday evening we’ll have the Cup Calcutta at Castlereagh Hotel from 6pm.”
The Club has an enormous Cup Day planned with kids’ activities including jumping castles, games and face painting.
“There’s a Fashions on the Field with four categories, live music and entertainment, giveaways and prizes, gourmet food options, various bars and a café, a TAB and bookmakers.
“We’ll also stage an Equimillion parade and this is all prior to our $150,000 Cup that has been sponsored by Dubbo City & Gilgandra Toyota for nine years, to which are most appreciative.
“The Cup is a Big Dance race, so the winner gets a gig to the $3 million race at Randwick.
“It’s a huge 10-race Showcase program with $555,000 in prizemoney that also features the [$75,000] XXXX Vincent Gordon Flying and the [$50,000] NSW Picnic Champion Series Final for approved riders.
“Another highlight is the first running of the [$50,000] NSW Picnic Champion Sprint Series Final over the shorter 1000m journey.
“Limited hospitality packages remain, and racegoers can pre-order the sensational ‘Fishcut Seafood’ packages. Tickets for the day are available from 123 Tix.”
On Saturday it’s the annual Jerilderie Gold Cup Day with a six-race card, undercover bookies ring with local, interstate and TAB betting facilities.
The Club will stage a Fashions on the Field with marquee and umbrella packages available, plus catering options.
Shuttle bus services will be operating from various locations in Jerilderie to the racecourse with entry to the course $25 with under 17 free.
On Friday it’s a huge afternoon on Lismore Workers Club Lismore Cup Day.
Lismore Turf Club will be providing live music, a tote and bookmaker facilities, several top-notch catering hospitality options including the Viva Racing VIP Marquee/Party Central located trackside.
There will also be live music, an all-inclusive bar and roaming canapes.
LTC has an early bird online offer with GA tickets $20 that include admission to the ‘After the Last Party’. Patrons can enter after 4pm for just $10 to catch the running of the Cup and stay for the After Party.
The day’s feature race, the $75,000 Lismore Workers Club Lismore Cup (1516m), also provides eligibility for the winner to the $3m Big Dance at Randwick in November. The main supporting race is the $50,000 Untamed Showcase Sprint (1200m).
