Taree Winners - Tips For Sunday 19th December

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Taree.

Race 1 - 1:15PM THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ROBERT THOMPSON BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

The Greg Hickman-trained 2. Monte Di Fiore has built a handy record of 7: 2-2-2 and still has more upside than anything else in the field. He’ll put himself into the race having led all the way at Nowra last start.

Dangers: 4. Miss Kojiki will be the one ready to pounce if the leaders overdo it. She has placed in 10 of her 15 starts! Surely it’s a matter of time before she strings a couple together.

How to play it: Monte Di Fiore WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 1:50PM TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

8. Alibi Dot Com didn’t show much in her first two trials but after a 41 week spell she reappeared in a Wyong trial and looked like a mare that’d knock off her maiden as soon as she was produced at the races on debut. And here she is.

Dangers: 15. The Leopard’s Tale comes back to country company having held his own in provincial company at his last couple. 1. Tigertude was heavily backed on debut, just missing in a three way go on a heavy track. No.6 back up

How to play it: Alibi Dot Com WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 2:25PM ZULU CLUB WINNER - PROFESSIONALS HARRINGTON MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)

12. Rockbarton Ruby sizzled home from near last on debut at Tamworth over 1200m, beaten by the odds on favourite Invincible Fire. A lack of early speed and a wide draw means she’ll be giving away another head start, however.

Dangers: 9. Military Star drops back to country company on the back of running second to Stay Wealthy at Wyong recently. 13. Suncraft is on her home deck and trialled sweetly here back in November.

How to play it: Rockbarton Ruby WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 3:00PM HAPPPY BIRTHDAY TONY BALL CLASS 2 HANDICAP- HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1250 METRES)

3. Greenheart has a string of seconds to his name this time back, all behind pretty handy horses. In his latest appearance he was unlucky not to beat Rupertaar when dropping back to 900m at Newcastle. Well placed to bring up another win.

Dangers: 8. Zaru boasts a very similar strike rate to Greenheart, but he too is never far away. Resumes with Dylan Gibbons in the saddle. 1. All Over Magic was okay first up at Newcastle and he sets up well here.

How to play it: Greenheart WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 5 - 3:40PM HYDRAHOSE SUMMER CUP BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

What is it about 5. She’s Independent and Taree? The mare has a record of 9:4-3-0 at the track, breaking a run of outs two starts ago, at you guessed it, Taree. She was out of her depth at Warwick Farm last start. Forget that.

Dangers: 2. Mo’s Glory ran ninth at Tamworth last start but he was only beaten three lengths. He boxed on well behind For Valour prior to that at Wyong. He also has an affinity with Taree winning two from two there.

How to play it: She’s Independent WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 4:20PM HORSEPOWER CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

Andrew Gibbons is going to need to call on all his experience to get 11. Mr Eighty Eight home from a very wide draw but giving the five-year-old plenty of room to find top gear isn’t a bad thing. Only got warm very late first up over 1400m.

Dangers: 8. Minifinn has just the one win from 18 starts but his run at Scone was solid, as was his midfield finish at Hawkesbury last start. 1. Barry’s Lane faded into seventh after leading an 1800m Highway last start. This is considerably easier.

How to play it: Mr Eighty Eight WIN ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 7 - 5:00PM KENNARDS HIRE - TAREE BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1250 METRES)

12. Atlantic Life only plugged away on a very heavy track last start at Taree. She did jump $2.80 so want to give her the chance to bounce back on top of the ground. Grant Buckley takes the ride and she’s a mare that makes her own luck. Wide open race.

Dangers: 1. Clearly Regal had been around the mark all preparation and he broke through last start at Newcastle beating his stablemate Standing Bear. 2. Oh Say just has to overcome a tricky draw to make her presence felt.

How to play it: Atlantic Life WIN ($7.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
