Successful Day On The Cards For Baker Stable (Orange, Tuesday)

By John Schell

Bjorn Baker will send a small team from his Warwick Farm base to Orange on Tuesday in the hope of snaring some more success for the stable.

Baker is entrenched in the top 10 on the trainers’ premiership in NSW this season with 39 winners to his name, and he thinks he can add to the tally when Line Of Law ($2.40 favourite on TAB) tackles the Central West Power Construction Class 1 Handicap (1010m).

“She’s a filly that has shown plenty of potential in her career,” said Baker.

“She’s taken on tougher grade races and performed well in them so this race looks to suit her pretty well.”

Line Of Law broke her maiden at Kembla Grange midway through the year before being spelled.

She resumed with a placing at Orange and has since been just behind the placings in two runs at Nowra and Queanbeyan.

“The 1010m will suit at Orange so I’d be disappointed if she doesn’t run well,” Baker said.

Money Wheel ($4.40) will be the Baker representative in the McSigns Orange Maiden Plate (1410m), and Robbie Downey, who will also partner Line Of Law, takes the ride.

“Money Wheel is only lightly raced with just the two starts to his name, and he’s managed to be placed in both of them at Bathurst and Orange,” said Baker.

“He only needs to repeat those runs to be a good chance of breaking through.”

Downey combines again with Baker when No Second Thoughts ($2.15 fav) lines up in the On-Trac AG Class 1 Handicap (1290m).

“No Second Thoughts is a So You Think filly and she’s got a bit of talent,” said Baker.

“She led and battled on pretty well at Bathurst on debut when she ran third. Then she showed the benefit of that experience when she again led and won impressively at Nowra.”

Baker will finish the day at Orange when Flying Birds ($4.60) and Desperately ($2.90) contest the Kennards Hire Benchmark 58 Handicap (1010m).

Nick Heywood will be aboard Flying Birds while Downey sticks with Desperately having ridden the filly in a recent trial.

“They’ve both drawn well and have shown enough in their career to be suited on Tuesday,” Baker said.
