Race 1 - 1:35PM PAT MURPHY RACING COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN PLATE (1100M)
3. Dee Dee Express ($2.10 favourite on TAB) made a bright debut at Canberra in a short course contest and returns home in a race of limited depth. Senior rider and savvy trainer say firm yes! 6. Miss Leeway ($41) failed to flatter in an autumn debut but resumes without an official trial for a canny camp. Wager she’ll improve to a more competitive number. Looks a soft debut target for 8. Whoopi Do ($5). Finished close-up in an open class trial recently and by-passed Moruya for this. Cute draw with no excuses. 5. Glenn’s Legacy ($5) has been back to the trials since an unplaced effort at Moruya and the blinkers get tossed aside now. Shapes up stronger.
How to play it: Dee Dee Express win ($2.10 favourite)
Race 2 - 2:10PM RJ SIDNEY CRAIG CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400M)
A long drive delivers a huge class drop for 1. Open Secret ($2.10 fav) who rear-view mirrors three straight Group 2 contests. Ideally drawn with a senior rider on but the 5kg hike the only concern. 3. Artefactx ($9) has been brave on sluggish tracks in two starts from a spell and should be all business at this distance range. 6. Benamera ($6.50) excels at this distance range and has only missed a top four cheque once in his last five contests. Looks suited in a small field. 8. Wandaye ($5.50) has returned in good nick and shed her maiden status at Bathurst last start. Can improve further.
How to play it: Open Secret win ($2.10 fav) / Box quinella 1-3-4
Race 3 - 2:45PM JEWELL BUILDERS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1600M)
4. Hurricane Coni ($5.50) is a two-time winner at a trip she hits third-up into the campaign. Catches her best draw in some time and senior rider preference a key change up. 1. Ken’Ker ($2.20 fav) missed clear air when he needed it most at this track last start in a run full of merit. Consistent as they come and saves petrol early with the rails draw. 2. Ohtani ($3.70) has spotted them a big start in both runs from a spell at Newcastle and Canberra. City visitor who finds the right race to improve sharply in.
How to play it: Hurricane Coni win ($5.50)
Race 4 - 3:25PM GOULBURN HAY SUPPLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600M)
A solid maiden line-up with 2. Falcon Lair ($1.50 fav) set to repay followers after being beaten less than a length at Hawkesbury last start. Ready to run a strong mile now and senior rider sticks solid. 8. Cool Drinks ($6) was disappointing in provincial grade first-up after an eye-catching winter debut at Wyong. Worth another chance with the blinkers going on. 5. She’s A Dame ($5) meets her toughest test to date but has reliable form lines via her first-up showing. Should roll forward from the wide draw and stable knows when to jump them up in trip. 11. Breeders Sun ($14) spotted them too big a start at Kembla Grange last start. Out to a mile third-up can show something smarter.
How to play it: Falcon Lair win ($1.50 fav)
Race 5 - 4:05PM REC EQUINE SPECIALISTS MAIDEN PLATE (1100M)
2. She Swings ($7) is yet to run a bad race in four starts and was runner-up in a city maiden on debut. Plenty to like in country grade with a no excuses draw. 1. Cool Blaze ($10) has had a long lay off since a productive debut as runner-up at Kembla Grange over a similar trip. Was up and about in a clock catching trial win recently and brings genuine presence. 7. Yoweri ($2.20 fav) has gone bang-bang in two trial wins and only needs to find the same spirit under raceday pressure to prove his early bona fides. 4. Invincible Phantom ($6) had every chance as favourite first-up at this track in a small field and should roll forward early. Fights the fight fitter.
How to play it: She Swings win ($7)
Race 6 - 4:40PM D ONE ACCOUNTING COUNTRY BOOSTED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1100M)
2. Manwari ($1.95 fav) has been all ears of late winning two on the bounce since getting back on good tracks. Handicapped at a higher level now but stayed home for the long weekend to attack this. 3. His Honour ($7.50) was excellent from off the front of the race last start at this track in higher grade. Up in weight now but should produce another convincing jump and run display. 6. Beau Rock ($7.50) travels over from Canberra finding genuine weight relief combined with a cute draw. Seasoned galloper right in the mix against these. 4. Vainstream ($5) is racing in his career sunset but has only been beaten a combined two lengths in handy top-three repeat results coming into this.
How to play it: Manwari win ($1.95 fav)
Race 7 - 5:15PM GG ENGINEERING CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1300M)
6. Craft ($13) has definitely mastered his talent with a consistent overall record to date. Senior rider spots him first-up here off two trials. Ignore at your peril. The owners’ dream in the race is 4. Jackpot Star ($2.70) with top three results in all seven career starts. Veers away from sprint trips for the first time but three runs in a month should have him primed. 5. Kreon ($2.10 fav) is an all or nothing player who has spotted them big starts in three Highway Handicap sprints this campaign. Back on home turf at a longer trip is a key chance. 1. Lang Park ($12) can make his own luck early from a kind draw at a trip he's proven at.
How to play it: Craft win ($13) / Box quinella 6-4-5
