'Reoffender' Chasing More Loot At Goulburn (Thursday)

If ever a horse was destined to run well at Goulburn (think the clink) it's the Amanda Turner trained "Reoffender".

The galloper fronts up in the third leg of the quaddie at Goulburn on Thursday looking to add to a real horses for courses record at the tablelands track.

From eight starts at the venue the gelding has banked a win, four seconds and a third. Some record, giving the impression the 'joint' is more like a get out of jail free card for horse and connections.

Turner's take on why he runs so well there is simple - “He just loves the track”!

Turner has kept him fresh since a slick first up effort at Warwick Farm behind the progressive Think About It.

Reoffender finished midfield beaten just over three lengths in a race that served up a snappy final fraction of 33.69. His trainer enthusiastic about the effort.

It was absolutely super. I wasn’t going to run him there, but he was that well and we just had to walk across the road and I if I didn’t, he might do something silly!

“Ï was just relieved he ran so well," Turner said.

Reoffender jumps back up in the weights in a weaker grade of race, but the stable isn’t concerned about the extra lead.

Despite Reoffender’s age his trainer doesn’t see any signs of him tapering off to a pony pension just yet.

“He is a seven-year-old now so I don’t think that will be a problem,” Turner indicated.

“We will just play it race by race, he still wants to be in the stable.

"He is a funny character – he makes out he is a villain but he is not – he is a lovely horse. I had him ready for Goulburn last time but he wasn’t quite well enough.”

Kathy O'Hara takes the ride on Thursday looking to add to the already productive association she has with horse and trainer.

O'Hara has piloted the horse in five of his eight Goulburn outings, delivering a win and three minor placings. The combination is more than a mug's chance of delivering similar on Thursday.

The early TAB Fixed Odds market on the race agrees, pegging him at $4.40 off an opening quote of $5.

Thursday's eight race Goulburn card has a bit of depth about it and there's some early market love for the locals as well.

Danny Williams has a brace of runners accepted with Stormy Witness ($3.20) the favourite in the opener and Atmospheric Rock a short quote ($1.70) in Race 3.

Danielle Seib produced more 'highway robbery' at Randwick last Saturday with Amarantz and has debut winner Namid on the squeeze at $2.15 in Race 5. Goulburn product Shaun Guymer has the bit between his teeth again of late and handles Our Baez for Pat Murphy in Race 7, the mare firming from $7-$5 (TAB Fixed Odds) after stealing late metres last start.

The market suggests Arts Object ($2.10) a one out option in the quaddie closer for Kurt Goldman. The filly an impressive Goulburn winner last start.

It's also 'wild times' ahead at Goulburn with the Newhaven Park Country Championships Southern Wildcard race day scheduled for Friday 17th March.

The Southern Wildcard is the 'second last but not least' stop on the Newhaven Park Country Championships road train to riches.

It's a go hard or go home scenario for those who clear acceptances! Not only does it offer winning connections a chance to grab the lion's share of $150 000 in prizemoney for winning the race, but it also guarantees slot number 15 of a maximum 16 in the $500 000 final at Royal Randwick on April 1st.

Goulburn's track for Thursday's meeting is currently rated a Soft 5.
