Prizemoney Increases For Grafton's XXXX Gold July Racing Carnival

Clarence River Jockey Club is pleased to announce significant increases to prizemoney for the upcoming 2018 XXXX Gold July Racing Carnival which commences on Thursday 5 July.

While the prizemoney for the two Listed events the GDSC Ramornie Handicap 1200m and the Grafton Cup 2350m will remain unchanged at $160,000, the added support of Racing NSW Country Showcase funding will see all races on Grafton Cup Day be conducted for a minimum of $40,000 with five of the eight events now offering prizemoney  of $45,000 or more.

The BIG Maiden (1200m) on cup day receives a huge prizemoney lift of 50% and will this year will be worth $45,000 taking it back to its proper position as the richest maiden race run in country or provincial NSW.

Ramornie Handicap day has also been given a prizemoney upgrade with a $40,000 Country-only Maiden (1000m) being added to the program.

In addition, one of the Club's flagship events - the Tursa Employment & Training Inglis Bonus Grafton Guineas 1600m (3yos) - has had its prizemoney raised by a massive 60%  to now be worth $80,000.

When you add to this that Inglis-eligible horses will also do battle for the much sought-after bonus of $50,000 in the Guineas, it takes this time-honoured event to new heights. In line with the upgraded prizemoney, the Guineas will now be conducted under quality conditions to ensure the best three-year-olds in work are able to compete.

The increases in prizemoney see the five-day Grafton Carnival now race for prizemoney of almost $1.4 million.

CRJC Chairman, Mr Graeme Green, said: "It is a pleasure to be able to increase prizemoney to the new levels, especially when it is able to be spread over so many different events.”
