Parkes To Host Racing Mates BBQ Get-Together

Racing industry participants in the Central Western Racing Districts are invited to attend the next Racing Mates BBQ ‘Get-Together’ at the Parkes Jockey Club's "Cup" Race Meeting on Sunday, May 18th.

Racing Mates ambassador Pat Webster will be trackside to host the event, which promotes ‘mates looking out for mates’.

“We are very pleased to be returning to the Central Western Racing Districts and catching up with racing participants at the Parkes Cup meeting,” Webster said.

Racing Mates is a peer support initiative established by Racing NSW, empowering mates to look out for mates.

Effective support offered from peers and colleagues can aid significantly in coping with stress and difficult situations.

Racing Mates ambassadors, led by Webster, are available as a port of call when industry participants are in need of a mate.

“Racing Mates provides access to clinical psychologists, counsellors and assistance hotlines - ambassadors such as myself can provide that link to participants in need of assistance," Webster said.

"Our BBQ gatherings are all about bringing the racing community together for a chat which has proven to be very effective with past events held.

“There is nothing better than talking to someone who understands where you're coming from.”

The BBQ will be held for participants from 11.30am near the race day stalls area of the Parkes Jockey Club, prior to race day.

For further information please contact Pat Webster on 0418 644 955.
