Like any fledgling trainer, Olivia Osborne has aspirations of winning feature races, being consistent, and making a success of her career.
The young Benalla mentor captured the biggest win of her career when The Big Short captured the Griffith Cup on Saturday and she is hopeful of winning again at Corowa on Monday.
She will be represented by Crying Cougar ($6 NSW TAB) in the Campbells Wines Rutherglen Maiden (1200m) and Lethal Lion ($61) in the Waldrons Corowa IGA Maiden (900m).
Lethal Lion is one of nine debutants and is raced by her parents whom also bred both horses by two of their own stallions, Boulder City and Redente.
“He is drawn out a little bit. Jake Duffy sticks to ride Lethal Lion after he was placed in his latest trial,” she said.
“Crying Cougar is having his first start beyond 1000 metres which is my main concern. He has drawn well (gate three) so it will be interesting to see how he goes.”
Osborne has only been training for a short period and rates the Griffith Cup as her biggest success.
“I won a race worth more prize money, but that was my first Cup so it was good,” she said.
“It was a good day with a win and a second from three starters and hopefully it continues at Corowa.”
Meanwhile, favourite Sweet Paree hasn’t finished further back than fourth in her past seven starts and is in with a chance of making it consecutive wins in the Wilson Project Group F&M Benchmark 58 (1300m).
Sweet Paree ($4) has drawn close to the outside alley and rises in the weights back against her own sex.
“She normally gets back in her races and finishes off really well. The wide gate is a worry, but she is racing so well,” trainer Kym Davison said.
"She has done a really good job with a much deserved win last time after some solid runs.”
"Brittany Button rides her again and knows her very well and what she is capable of.”
