Neil Evans' Tips For Tamworth (Monday)

By Neil Evans

Track Soft 5 and rail out 3m from 1000m to 300m & True the remainder:

Race 1 - 12:40PM HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL CHALMERS MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

4. Miss You So is an improving three-year-old primed to peak third-up in just his second prep getting out to the mile. Has worked home okay in two runs back and desperate now for a longer journey. Drawn to get cover. 3. Takethemoneryandrun is also suited over this distance third-up, with some weight relief after the jockey’s claim. 1. Comancheria can improve third-up over a suitable furlong further. 6. Twenty Four Guns fourth-up with a significant jockey change, and 7. Fejer Dawn, a lightly raced improver second-up; heads the rest.

How to play it: Miss You So to win

Race 2 - 1:20PM HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH HARRIS MAIDEN (1200 METRES)

2. Considered is an emerging filly trained on the course, and the one to beat second-up. Was having only her second outing when beaten by a whisker at Inverell 19 days ago as a heavily backed favourite, but fitter now over 100m further, only needs clear air from the 350m to finish best. 3. Pride Of Nations, a locally trained filly by a Doncaster Hcp winner having her first start for the Sue Grills stable, is naturally a big market watch off a steady trial. So too 4. Last Lalique improving into her second start over more ground for a leading Scone stable. Gap to the rest headed by 5. Be Sharp peaking third-up; and 7. Epic Statement resuming behind two trials.

Race 3 - 1:55PM CONCRETE INDUSTRY SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

6. Diva Rouge is a three-year-old filly by Red Henno on debut for the underrated Jake Hull stable at Gosford. Given two well spaced trials, and there was plenty to like about the most recent when cruising through the line from off speed and wide out on the Beaumont course in a trial run on heavy going in relatively smart time, despite not racing truely. Drawn wide, but looks to have above average ability. Over the odds. 3. Hellwithasmile is a locally-trained three-year-old by Zousain on debut for the same combination as the previous on top selection, and was impressive easily winning the second of two trials in heavy going. 2. Dartbrook resumes with no public trials and normally takes a run or two to hit his straps, but can finish hard over this trip if there’s enough speed early in the race. 8. See You Then is a well bred filly having her second start off a fair closing debut at Scone. Watch the betting on 4. Our Land, a first starter by Territories, drawn wide but the stable is a specialist sprinter producer.

Race 4 - 2:35PM TMFM 95.5 SPORT SHOW BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

3. Descending Mist is a smart and hard fit Armidale-based four-year-old stepping out to this longer trip at the ideal time. Has charged home late to miss narrowly in his last two up to this level, and again drawn to get a cosy run back off the speed before being presented at the top of the straight. 2. Everlasting Kiss dug in hard to claim a weaker BM 66 third-up, and while the leading jockey takes over, still a query getting back out to this longer trip. 6. Justifiably put two wins together up to BM 58 country grade before flopping in heavy going in a much deeper metropolitan race. Naturally better suited back at this level on a drier track. 5. Image Of The Sun gets a much needed drop in class fourth-up for a leading stable; while 4. Will To Excel comes off a fast-finishing win in weaker company at Warren.

How to play it: Descending Mist to win

Race 5 - 3:10PM WESTS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP BM58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

5. Not In Doubt is a progressive home track mare well suited deep into a sparingly raced prep over a furlong further, and four weeks between runs. Kept ticking over nicely at the trials, and can be ridden a bit quieter from this wider gate and be given her head at the top of the straight. Was only a neck from the winner in a BM 58 here last start in a race with superior depth. 1. The Impeckable can improve sharply second-up over a furlong further. So too 4. Great Point who finds a thinner race third-up back a shade in distance. 6. Crackhorn third-up off a long break, with blinkers coming off; 8. He’s My Warrior a month between runs via a trial win; and last start Super Maiden winner 10. Grandini third-up; can all add value into trifecta and first four plays.

Race 6 - 3:45PM TAMWORTH CITY TOYOTA CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

6. Nyali Sands is a talented mare who finds the right race third-up from a soft trailing draw. Did her best work late from the back when resuming in a much deeper Saturday CL3 Highway before ridden closer and wasn't far away in similar company here 16 days ago. Suited up in distance, with a drop in weight, and critically with bar plates coming off. 1. Starry Jack continues building a solid record, finishing best to win a BM 58 third-up, but this is tougher. Watch the market too on home tracker 3. Tavros resuming off a quiet trial, and was competitive in better CL3 Highway company earlier in the year. 5. Reflecting Fame is trained on the track, and improves sharply second-up with blinkers removed. Include 4. I Am Sugoi third-up over more ground in exotic plays; while 2. Prince Of Sepang is honest and capable of running into the minor money despite tackling a much deeper race.

How to play it: Nyali Sands to win

Race 7 - 4:20PM HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMIE SIMPSON BM58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

2. This One Time is a promising filly who can make it three straight wins fourth-up from a handy draw and staying at the distance. Has tracked the speed before zooming home best in her last couple, and this is no harder for one capable of winning much deeper sprints. The one to beat. 7. Sagaponack is a lightly raced and provincial-based filly also hunting a third straight win, although draws wide in what is a deeper race. 1. Ardonaugh has a wide gate, but gets a senior rider aboard and capable of running into the money second-up. Keep safe 5. Pee Dee who hasn’t won for a while, but does have tactical speed. Gap to the rest.
