Neil Evans' Tips For Cowra (Monday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 and rail true.

Race 1 - 2:00PM COWRA TILES & CARPET COURT MAIDEN HANDICAP (1375 METRES)

4. Turn Left is a progressive Canberra filly who can break through at her second start. Held her ground on debut in a better race at Nowra after being backed from $4.00 into $3.70, and drew to settle right behind the speed. 1. Son Of Eureka is ready to win after chasing home a handy one second-up. 3. Instead can improve sharply at her second start. 5. Divine Belle second-up, and 6. Sabatina deep into her prep and trained on the track; both go into wider exotic plays.

Race 2 - 2:35PM IRRIFAB MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

4. Hellarama, a lightly raced three-year-old by Hellbent, returns as a gelding with gear changes for his first run since spring behind two improving trials. Has enough ability on the fresh side in what is a weak lineup. 1. Fireup is a big market watch resuming off a lengthy break and two trials for his second prep. 7. Raani improves sharply at her second start on a nine day back-up.

Race 3 - 3:10PM WEBB'S TRANSPORT & EARTHMOVING BM58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Chico Casino is a capable four-year-old who can put his campaign back on track deep into the prep. Came off a dominant BM 58 win to just miss in a deeper race at Dubbo before dropping out in a Country C'ship Qualifier 10 days ago. Much less depth here and back to 1200m is a plus. 8. All Astern is a big watch resuming off a nice trial win. 4. Prince Papa, resuming with no official trials, and last start BM 58 winner 5. Walk Up Start can both run into the minor money.

Race 4 - 3:50PM BEN CORE ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1700 METRES)

3. Extravagant Choice was a smart winner in this grade two starts ago before sticking on okay in a handy race at Albury. 4. Great Week draws the fence shooting for a third consecutive win, but up sharply in weight. 9. Annoint is an improving metro four-year-old suited coming back sharply in distance. Last start Goulburn winner 8. Call Me Artie is in the each-way hunt.

Race 5 - 4:30PM MAC PROPERTY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (950 METRES)

6. Shelley's Ace is at her best around this sort of short trip, especially when first-up off a decent break. Form was patchy in deeper races last prep, but she bolted in her only previous start at this course in a CL1 over the same journey, and has plenty of tactical speed. 13. Talihina Sky draws the inside third-up off a solid run at Dubbo. 3. Kiss The Colours has been in and around the money all prep over similar short trips, but finds it hard to win. 5. Desirous was a CL1 winner two starts back over an even shorter trip, and is the best of the rest ahead of 7. The Mooch who will be finishing hard.

Race 6 - 5:15PM BALANCE ACCOUNTANTS & ADVISERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Man From Brussells is a locally-trained and sparingly raced four-year-old bursting to win a second race fourth-up. Has finished off okay in his last two when well in the market, and if he can tuck in from a wider gate is the one to beat in a very weakened race. 4. Maybe Maureen gets blinkers added third-up coming back a shade in trip and a month between runs. 10. Hold The Phone draws to get a good trail and is clear best of the rest.

Race 7 - 5:55PM CLUB COWRA DIGGERS CUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1375 METRES)

5. Lady Revolution is well placed to win the closer coming back in distance three weeks between runs. Placed in four straight runs in generally deeper fields before failing to attack the line over a mile at Wagga. Draws to get a soft run with cover just off speed, and this shapes as the ideal journey. 1. Zale hasn't been far away in three runs off a break against similar opposition, and backs up in nine days. 4. Aquatempo broke through narrowly last start at Queanbeyan reloading off a six week let-up. 6. Eilrahc back sharply in class heads the rest.
