Loaves And Fishes As Eight Becomes Ten At Goulburn

It's Lent in many faiths at this time of year so its appropriate we have racing's version of the loaves and fishes parable at Goulburn today as eight races have become ten!

The program is now a joint initiative of Goulburn and Kembla Grange with the addition of the two feature races from Kembla's washed out meeting.

Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife says it now shapes up as a bumper Friday card with something for everyone.

"The ten-race card now features Goulburn's original program plus the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic (1600m) and the Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Qualifier (1400m) as well," Ms Fife said.

"Based on the 137 original acceptances it is one of the strongest days of racing we have ever hosted here in the tablelands with over half a million dollars in prizemoney now up for grabs."

"The club is pleased to be able to work with Racing NSW and Kembla Grange in adapting the program because of the continued wet weather around the South of the state over the past week."

There isn't a whole lot of push back from the locals across today's racing however man of the moment Danny Williams and Tash Burleigh look like keeping a host of visitors honest.

Whilst Williams' latest cult hero Shelby Sixty-Six has been busy creating his own reality show "Racing Against the Stars" in recent days the Goulburn horseman will be looking for something more like "Friday Night Lights" on his home track.

Williams presents Rent A Rock ($18) and Jalmari ($6.50) in Race 10 on the card at Goulburn which is timed to go at 6.05pm!

Rent A Rock with Nick Heywood in the saddle has a handy record at the mile and has been placed in two of his past three starts, whilst Jalmari (Jordan Mallyon) has really hit his straps on soft tracks this time in.

Burleigh has Smarter Than You ($5.50) engaged in Race 3. The filly was brave in defeat first up and the $11 in early betting has well and truly gone. The daughter of Smart Missile is proven on wet ground and despite a wide draw looks to be creeping up on a breakthrough win.

Goulburn's track is rated a Heavy 9 for the ten-race card with the opener timed to go at 12.40pm.
