Listen Ear - Billy's Flying Towards NSW Picnic Champion Series Final

Evergreen galloper Billy Bent Ear has dashed well clear in this year's 2023 NSW Picnic Champion Series Final pointscore following his narrow victory in the Open Trophy Handicap (800m) at Macquarie picnics run at Trangie.

The 11-year-old was ridden by Grady Spokes ($6) and just held on to defeat the short-priced Castlebar Road (Sally Faulks, $1.50).

Prepared by Connie Greig, Billy Bent Ear leads the pack with 48 points and is 17 points clear of stablemates Blackhill Kitty and Valadyium.

The Greig camp is dominating the Series and has the next pair of Belle O'Ballee and Gossip sharing equal fourth spot on 30 points.

Feature race at Trangie was the Macquarie Picnic Cup (1400m) won by Greig's Blackhill Kitty (Breanna Bourke, $7) who defeated Amazingly (Sebastian Galea, $6).

The final picnic meeting of the NSW Picnic Champion Series for this year will be at Cobar on Saturday 19th August).
