Level 2 Hot Weather Policy Invoked For Sapphire Coast (Saturday)

Please be advised that Level 2 of the Hot Weather Policy will be invoked at Sapphire Coast on Saturday (1st February).

As there is no weather station at Kalaru (locality of Sapphire Coast Racecourse) some sites advertise forecasts from Bega, which is more inland.

Merimbula - which is 15km to the south - is forecast to reach 37 degrees celsius on Saturday and is considered to be a more accurate forecast.

Trainers are reminded that runners must be on-course at least 90 minutes prior to the advertised starting time of their respective races, as this allows sufficient time to cool the horse before the race.

It is particularly important for those horses traveling significant distances to race meetings, allowing them time to be actively cooled, if necessary, prior to racing.
