Selections based on a heavy track

1. Calvary was down the track at Ipswich two starts ago before running an improved race when a last start fourth at the Gold Coast. He’s got a win and four placings from nine starts and looks set to go on with the job in this. 2. Gavin was a winner at this track in maiden grade three starts ago in June and has had two starts since for a third at Grafton and a fourth at Casino. He should be hard to hold out again here. 5. Son Of Heroic has been midfield in recent runs and can show up here without surprising, while 6. Meghan has also been midfield of late and is not out of this.

How to play it: Calvary WIN.

2. Superstitious looked good breaking his maiden at this track two starts ago and has since finished midfield at Grafton. He’s had two trials leading into this resuming run and looks poised to perform well fresh. 4. Assent was a good winner at Grafton back in April and has had a Gold Coast trial in preparation for this first-up run. 3. Warrior Head was down the track at Ipswich when resuming but can improve on that here. 7. Thunderous was too far away at Beaudesert when last produced and is not out of this.

How to play it: Superstitious WIN.

5. Vivika ran well on debut in good grade when second at Doomben and then resumed from a spell to score a dominant Grafton win during the carnival there. She since ran fourth in good grade at Doomben and gets her chance to bounce back to winning form here. 7. No Ragrets ran second at Casino last time out and has the talent to get into the money again here. 9. Barron finally broke his maiden at Casino when last produced and could go on with the job. 1. Stoinka was a winner here two starts ago and shouldn’t be underestimated.

How to play it: Vivaka WIN.

7. Saxinoue hasn’t been far away of late with a third at this track being followed by a midfield Grafton effort and a last start fourth at the Gold Coast. The inside gate here should assist his cause. 10. Hell Follows ran second at the Gold Coast last time out and can be a factor here with a repeat of that. 6. Papal Miss ran fourth in the same race Hell Follows contested at her last start and bears close watching, while 2. Sherriff Cody has been racing well with three straight third placings.

How to play it: Saxinoue WIN.

12. Sorrenti had two trials before making his debut at Ipswich and finishing second when beaten just over half a length. He’s drawn wide here but looks to have plenty of upside and he can make an impact against these. 6. Ciphertext has finished second in six of eight starts and looks well overdue to break her maiden despite the outside gate. 9. Rock On Angel has been placed in two of three starts and can get into the money again, while 10. Sonechka has finished fourth in her latest four starts and is not out of this.

How to play it: Sorrenti WIN.

1. Emperor was racing in great form having won two in a row at Doomben and Grafton before a last start eighth at Eagle Farm. He should find this an easier assignment and he can bounce back to winning form. 4. Badgers Nuts resumes from a spell here and won his latest two starts at Grafton and Beaudesert before the break. He’s run well in a trial leading into this. 7. Godfather wasn’t beaten far at Doomben when last produced and looms as a chance here, while 3. Light Of Boom is talented at best and wasn’t beaten too far in tougher grade at Doomben last time out.

How to play it: Emperor WIN.

4. Castillian has been racing in great form with a second at Eagle Farm being followed by two wins at Doomben and Ipswich. He finished second last time out behind Super Duck at Doomben and looks hard to hold out here. 3. Cranky Harry ran well when second at Doomben two starts ago and followed that up with a sixth in the Coffs Harbour Cup. He can bounce back here. 8. Resurrected has looked good winning his last four in a row and only needs to maintain that form to be a major factor here. 5. Super Duck won in good style at Doomben two starts ago before a last start third at Eagle Farm.

How to play it: Castillian WIN.

6. Miss Uchitel returns from a freshen-up here having finished midfield in her latest two starts at Grafton and this track. She finished third at the Sunshine Coast before that and can overcome the wide alley here and run a bold race. 3. Pan A Million was a Toowoomba winner on debut and has since been placed in his latest two starts at Rockhampton and Toowoomba. 4. Clubhouse comes into this after a last start third at Ipswich, while 11. Eastowin was midfield at Port Macquarie when last produced and is not out of this.

How to play it: Miss Uchitel WIN.
