John Schell's Tips For Goulburn (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a soft track

Race 1 - 1:35PM GOULBURN AUSTRALIA MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

3. Malinga Missile ran well in a Queanbeyan trial before debuting with a third at Bathurst behind a subsequent winner. He since went to Wellington where he finished a solid fourth. He should be ready to peak now, and this looks a nice race for him from the good draw. 5. Son Of Rubick has only had the two starts but has been placed in each of them with both being at this track. He should be prominent again. 8. Flying Chevrolet has had two runs back from a spell and she can improve on her latest effort and sneak into the placings here. 6. Torosity is resuming from a spell on the back of a solid trial at Goulburn and a forward showing wouldn’t surprise.

How to play it: Malinga Missile EACH WAY.

Race 2 - 2:10PM GOULBURN MAZDA & ISUZU UTE MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

8. Nami’s Jewel resumed from a spell with a strong second at Newcastle after leading and can give cheek again. 10. Stormy Reign wasn’t beaten far when resuming with a fifth at Scone and she can get into the placings if she can show a little improvement on that. 11. Sukeban ran sixth on debut at Newcastle in the same race Nami’s Jewel contested and she should have benefitted from the experience. 2. Power Smash failed to beat a runner home in each of his latest two starts before a spell after a second on debut at Moruya. He wasn’t beaten far in either of those runs though and could get into the placings here.

How to play it: Nami’s Jewel WIN.

Race 3 - 2:50PM KURRINDA BLOODSTOCK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (900 METRES)

4. Wedding Planner debuted with a strong win at Muswellbrook when arriving in the nick of time. She’s been scratched from a couple of recent engagements and looks suited in this race from the good draw. 7. Maybe Maureen ran well at Cowra two starts ago then failed to fire at Albury last time out. She is capable of improving. 5. Xspiritous was only run down late when a last start third at this track and she will take running down again. 6. Shelly’s Ace resumed with a solid fourth when close-up at Cowra and can be placed.

How to play it: Wedding Planner WIN.

Race 4 - 3:25PM GOULBURN CARPET COURT MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Navy Buoy ran well in both runs at the end of last year and the start of this and resumes here after a trial win. 6. Deep Emotion resumed with a second on the Beaumont track and is a chance if she can repeat that, while 5. Brainiac is capable of improving on her two runs to date. 1. My Star is on debut and while he was down the track in a Randwick trial a forward showing wouldn’t surprise in this.

How to play it: Navy Buoy WIN.

Race 5 - 4:05PM M.J. DALE RACING CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

7. Maison Louis was a winner at this track two starts ago and then finished second at Gosford as favourite last time out. He looks to have the talent to give this a shake. 6. The Professor resumes from a long spell here and has had two trials to prepare. A bold fresh showing is expected. 8. Jamacri won well when resuming and then followed a second with a failure at Orange. She can improve here. 2. Artifactx has shown enough ability in his career to be rated a chance against these.

How to play it: Maison LouisWIN.

Race 6 - 4:40PM KIRK'S BRIDGE FARM BM58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

9. So You Pence was a winner at Moruya back in December of 2022 at just her second start and then spent a lengthy period on the sidelines before running second in a Canberra trial in February of this year and then resuming with a second placing at this track. She should have derived benefit from that run and can go one better here despite the wide barrier. 13. Rileycat followed a couple of placings with a win at Canberra and was then spelled after a sixth at Wagga. She resumes here and bears close watching. 10. East Harlem gave plenty of cheek at Wagga when second at his latest start and another forward showing is on the cards. 4. Deni Gal followed a win and a third at Nowra with a last start eighth at this track when only beaten just over two lengths.

How to play it: So You Pence WIN.

Race 7 - 5:20PM SEMCO EQUIPMENT SALES BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

12. Minnehaha Falls is resuming from a spell and showed plenty of potential in the initial campaign having scored a win at Wyong and then finishing third at Kembla Grange before the break. She’s had two trials to prepare for this and should be primed to sprint well fresh. 14. Wexford Miss was first-up from a spell for a new stable when running home fairly well to finish fourth at this track. She should be hitting the line hard again. 15. Empress Of Japan has had two starts back from a spell and has been close-up when behind the placings in each of them. She can make an impact in this line-up. 16. Flying Flossy hit the line well when third at Wagga at her latest start and another bold showing wouldn’t surprise.

How to play it: Minnehaha Falls WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 3 (4) Wedding Planner.
Race 7 (12) Minnehaha Falls.

Best Value:
Race 1 (3) Malinga Missile.
