Grafton Races (Thursday 6th March) - Abandoned

The race meeting scheduled for Grafton Racecourse on Thursday, 6 March 2025 has been abandoned due to the impact of Cyclone Alfred.

In making this decision, Racing NSW is placing the safety of people front of mind, including participants in the racing industry as they prepare to mitigate against any damage from the cyclone.

“The safety of participants and the general public is paramount and we have empathy with the local communities impacted by the cyclone,” said Racing NSW Chief Executive Mr Peter V’landys AM.

“Conduct of the race meeting tomorrow would be both impractical and insensitive. Our thoughts and best wishes are with the people affected,” Mr V’landys added.

Racing NSW is also maintaining a watching brief on race meetings scheduled for Ballina on Saturday, 8 March 2025 and Coffs Harbour on 10 March 2025, although these meetings are in significant doubt based on the present course of the cyclone.

Further announcements will be made as the situation becomes clearer.

Racing NSW will also consider adding additional meetings and races in the region in the near future to provide opportunities for participants to compete for prizemoney once conditions improve.
