Goulburn's Final Hitout This Afternoon Before Cup Day

Today's eight-race card at Goulburn is the precursor to the tablelands venue's blue ribbon day of racing, Goulburn Cup day.

This year's cup has switched dates to Sunday 3rd November. The race will also be run over an amended distance in 2019 with this year's feature to be run and won over 1400m.

The Goulburn Cup will offer $200,000 in prizemoney for the first time this year, having received a $50,000 'odds boost' from Racing NSW.

The support card on cup day also packs plenty of punch, with plenty of options for trainers and owners through races such as:

  • The Guy Walter, a Filles & Mares Class 3 contest,
  • A Benchmark 66 Heat of the Country Magic Series, and
  • A country horses-only maiden

Support races on the day will all carry Racing NSW Country Showcase prizemoney.

Goulburn Race Club would also like to acknowledge the involvement of the NSW Racehorse Owner's Association at Goulburn today.

The NSWROA has naming rights on Race 8, the closing quaddie leg and has been working in partnership with GRC as part of preparations for this year's Goulburn Cup.

Today's eight-race card at Goulburn is the only race meeting in NSW today and will be run on a track currently rated a Good 4.

The opening race is timed to go at 1.10pm with plenty of interest in the Joe Pride-trained Galahad's Quest ($2.20 on TAB fixed odds) in the opener as it strives to win four races on the trot.
