While east of the divide has been ‘deluge city’ all week, Goulburn Race Club has been radar riding the weather in recent days hoping that it won’t spoil their country showcase offering on Sunday.
The eight-race card offers almost $500,000 in prizemoney with the $200,000 Goulburn Australia Goulburn Cup the prized feature.
This year the club’s blue-ribbon race has attracted a deep field of racehorses with form lines from as far afield as France, Flemington and even Forbes.

Goulburn Race Club's CEO, Robyn Fife says the tablelands forecast for the next few days gives the club a better than evens chance of delivering what looks a first-rate meeting after acceptances.
“Our forecast suggests minimal rainfall for the next three days so we are all keen to push on and deliver a vibrant country showcase meeting in the true Goulburn way,” Ms Fife said.
“The Goulburn Australia Goulburn Cup has attracted keen interest from a variety of well-performed stables with the race’s Big Dance Eligibility status adding to the intrigue of the race.
“A quick glance through each runner’s credentials highlights raceday experience from near and far. There’s a mix of local, interstate and even international flavour across the twenty accepted runners,” Ms Fife referenced.
Punters looking for a leg up on Sunday should read up on the likes of Kerry Parker (six acceptors on the day including Flying Bandit in the Cup), Bjorn Baker (two strong chances via Magical Moments in race 3 and War Eternal in the feature).
Proven pigskin performers at the tablelands track include Alysha Collett (six rides) and Jay Ford (four rides) who feature prominently on the card.
Other feature races on the program include the Kirk’s Bridge The Guy Walter, a Class 3 for Fillies and Mares complemented by the Pat Murphy Racing-sponsored Graeme Spackman Country Magic, a Benchmark 66 Handicap over a mile.
On the other side of the fence there is also plenty for racegoers to get involved in including Raceday Bingo, Car Club displays, Seib Racing Fashions on the Field, Woodfired Pizza and smooth DJ sets.
There are great hospitality options available with full TAB, bar and catering facilities on track. For all things Goulburn Cup including ticketing, hospitality and racing go to goulburnraceclub.com.au
