Emma 'Outa' The Blocks Quickly With Stable Reset

Goulburn’s Emma Longmire is now training under her own name and has wasted no time in jumping óuta’ the blocks with two winners from her first seven runners.

Veteran Outahand kick started things for the previous Twinstar Racing co-trainer by winning at Gundagai mid-September, Emma loving the fact an older horse can breathe life into the stable's new direction!

"Outahand's a nine-year-old who loves his racing, he is a real character and is loved by all the staff.

"He has come back from injury and was dominant when leading all the way at Gundagai," Longmire said.

"He is stepping out again at Canberra on Friday.

"He was bred/owned by the Hand family of Taralga who have been great supporters of the stable also."

Emma then backed that up on Tuesday at Goulburn producing the consistent Mittata for a stylish first-up win on his home track.

On a hot blustery day Longmire served up a cool horse and clear pick of the yard in the pre-race parade for Race 2.

Up and coming apprentice Holly Durnan did the rest producing a calm, rails-friendly ride to bolster the galloper’s already strong first-up record.

Longmire was thrilled with the win but deflected the credit back to the horse’s long-time owners, many of whom were on track to share in the champagne result.

"All of his owners have been great supporters of the stable over the years so it has been fantastic they can enjoy his good recent form.

"I will keep finding races in his grade keeping him fresh. He has now won from 1000m to 1400m," Emma said.

“Goulburn was a great kick off for the prep, he has obviously come up well. Has always shown ability and was luckless early in his career," she added.

Emma and sister Lucy recently tweaked the Twinstar Racing set up, the result being that Emma now has a team of six on the books.

"The Twinstar horses are now mine as Lucy wanted to focus on ventures other than training.

"I have a small team of horses and staff. I am enjoying the new venture.

"I feel like I get the advantage of working with a small team being able to pick up on the small details and knowing each horses' intricacies," Longmire explained.

Among that small team is the potential laden mare Lady Kah, an early talent who won two from three in her first campaign.

This time last year she won “The Newgate Farm Guy Walter” on Goulburn Cup Day at just her second start. Watch this space when she returns.

On that topic, this year’s Campbell Petroleum $200,000 Goulburn Cup is now only a month away. The sought-after race is the first chance statewide for trainers to signal serious intent for $3m Big Dance qualification in 2024.

Goulburn Race Club will host Goulburn Cup Day on Sunday 5th November, with the showcase meeting offers almost $500,000 in prizemoney.

The Campbell Petroleum Goulburn Cup will be supported by races such as The Guy Walter F&M Class 3 over 1300m and the Country Magic Benchmark 66 Hcp over 1600m.

Nominations for the Goulburn Cup program close at 11am on Tuesday 31st October and hospitality packages for the day are still available through the Goulburn Race Club Office.
