Donna Scott's Trip To Goulburn Offers Plenty Of Incentive (Saturday)

Donna Scott might be making the long trek to Goulburn on Saturday but it's two short-course horses she'll be looking towards paying their way.

The Albury-based Scott has top weight Incentive engaged in the opener on Girls Day Out at Goulburn. The Capitalist three-year-old has impressed in four starts to date and resumes in a class one handicap over 1000m.

His trainer is bullish he can achieve more once he shrugs off some infant ways.

"Yes he has a lot of ability, but his racing manners are not the greatest, but hopefully he has matured and will not want to over-race," Ms Scott said.

Donna Scott [pictured left] is like many around Southern NSW for whom just getting a horse to the races of late feels like a win.

"He has had plenty of work, but with the wet weather he has missed a couple of jump outs and trials.

"He's a jump and run horse though and knows exactly what he has to do. Hopefully we have him “cherry ripe” first-up."

Incentive's consistent form to date has seen him whacked with a clear topweight returning from a spell, however, Scott isn't overly worried.

"Not over that distance, it doesn’t matter too much, if he was in a 1400m race we may be concerned. Hopefully he can get away with it."

Incentive's talent is obvious enough having placed behind a handy galloper in Prince Nicconi on debut over a similar trip.

Scott is a genuine chance of strong results at either end of Goulburn's card on Saturday with My Boy Mo looking to break his maiden in the last, also over 1000m. His form at the back end of last preparation was very good and Scott believes this is a solid starting point for his campaign.

"We are happy with his preparation he is a nice horse but just might need the run going forward."

Scott says despite being a lightly raced five-year-old My Boy Mo seems to be heading in the right direction: "He has had a few feet issues, but definitely on the improve. Hopefully we are in for a nice preparation with him."

"We were meant to have another trial, but again with race meetings called off due to wet weather, we have thrown him in at the deep end."

Simon Miller rides both horses. Hopefully Scott's trip up and down the Hume is a profitable one and her charges head home with "Mo' money then they came with!

Goulburn's Girls Day Out program is always a popular one with the locals. This year's famous Fashions on the Field is sponsored by Seib Racing with prizes valued at over $3000.

Gates open at 11am with Race 1 timed to go at 2.24pm and all the action from Rosehill's Five Diamonds meeting screened live on track.

Goulburn's track is currently rated a Soft 7.
