Leeton Jockey Club’s community raceday has been moved from April back to its traditional May date for 2026 with the CopRice Leeton Cup to be run on Saturday 9 May.
The move was announced at the club’s annual general meeting on 20 November.
The meeting will feature Fashions on the Field, marquees, live entertainment and the running of the Cup over 1600m.

In his annual report, President Grant Fitzsimon said although the 2024 TAB raceday was moved to a Tuesday, turnover had bucked the trend of what NSW Racing had seen over the last two years of a decline in wagering.
“Our Leeton Cup was held in April with a good-sized crowd attending and enjoying our country race meeting," said Grant Fitzsimon.
"The highlight of the meeting was our local trainer Peter Clancy wining the CopRice Leeton Cup with Mayfair Hotel and jockey Josh Richards to make the ride a real local win.
“Some improvements we have done over the last 12 months include the purchase of a new cool room, and the conversion of all Sky Racing TV signals to digital.”
Mr Fitzsimon said the scope of works for the derelict grandstand was changed to a grant for new security fencing and gates plus the removal of asbestos.
“The NSW Jockeys Association has offered to pay half of the cost of new marine carpet in the men’s and ladies jockey rooms, with work expected to be completed by the end of the year,” he said.
The club is also planning to completely refurbish the racecallers’ box in 2026.
In the election of office bearers, Grant Fitzsimon was returned as president, along with vice presidents Garry Schmetzer and Barry Hehir, secretary Graeme Knott, treasurer John Gavel, public officer Brian Troy, licensee Garry Schmetzer and publicity officer Kim Woods.
Committee members are Anthony Axtill, Greg Clancy, Sarina Saffiotti, Graham Gavel, Robert Bourke, Stuart White, Sharon Scali, Rachel Broadbent and Kelly Pauls.
