Apprentice Liam Blanch his on the board with his first Rising Star Series victory after taking out Heat 6 at Coffs Harbour on Thursday (December 5th).

Blanch scored a come-from-behind victory with an outside run on board Barcelona Express for trainer David Matts to defeat Mollie Fitzgerald (2nd, Monte Outlander) and William Stanley (3rd, Stoinka).

Despite finishing unplaced, Jessica Brookes remains the Series frontrunner with 9 points and has been joined by Mollie Fitzgerald after Thursday's result.

Points are awarded for each race on the following basis:

First Place - 7 points; Second Place - 5 points; Third Place - 3 points; Fourth Place – 2 points; All other placings - 1 point.

In the event of more than one rider finishing or sharing equal points, the most race wins, and subsequently the most 2nds then 3rds within the series are tallied to determine the outright winner and subsequent placegetters.

The Series heads to Scone for Heat 7 on December 17th.
