“We are looking forward to a big day celebrating our newest race, the $50,000 [SCB Distributors] Legend of the South,” said Ken Brown, Executive Officer for Moruya Jockey Club.

“We will also be running the AMH Mustang Open Handicap, the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club Batemans Bay Cup and our first ever $50,000 Super Maiden.

“With such great racing we are expecting a sizeable crowd with a plethora of food options, kids’ entertainment with a jumping castle and face painting, and South Coast DJs to keep the place pumping.

“There will also be some great fashions on display with a Fashions on the Field competition.

“We start off on Thursday night with a Calcutta for the Legend of the South at the Adelaide Hotel in Moruya with Sky Racing Radio’s Dave Stanley our guest MC.

“We believe this will be one of the best day’s racing seen at Moruya and we’re thankful to the support of our sponsors, particularly SCB Distributors.”

Lockhart, known as ‘Verandah Town’ will stage their picnics on Friday, celebrating their 30th year.

“Marquees have been sold out and GA tickets are selling well,” said Will Lane, president of Lockhart Picnic Race Club.

“We’ll also have the Ninja & Jhi Fashions on the Field and with the weather looking good, we’re expecting quite a large crowd.”

Then on Saturday its Wagga picnics, one of the city’s major social events.

“This is a very popular annual event for families held on the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend,” said Jason Ferrario, CEO of Murrumbidgee Turf Club.

“There will be a Fashions on the Field along with live music during the afternoon and activities for the kids.

“And the AFL Grand Final will be shown live on a big screen in front of the picnics hill.

“This is a fund-raising day with money donated to Country Hope – they provide emotional and financial support to country families who have a child diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

“The six-race card features the Wagga Picnic Cup [2000m] which is a heat of the Wagga Stayers Series.

“It’s a family-friendly event with three different areas – general admission, individual marquees and picnic on the rails.

“MTC is excited to be hosting the annual Wagga picnics and we hope the Club’s committee is rewarded with some fine weather following the challenges of unprecedented rainfall in 2022.

“Our major sponsors are GIO Wagga Wagga, Fabstock, LawAdvice, Boyce, Sportsmen’s Club Hotel and Miller & James Real Estate.”
