Awesome Pluck & Portatorio Withdrawn From Country Championships

MNCRA Country Championship Qualifiers

Trainer Jenny Graham has this morning provided the following veterinary certificates to Racing NSW Stewards:-

  1. Awesome Pluck (placed 2nd MNCRA Qualifier) – An endoscopic examination and blood tests has found the gelding to have an inflammatory airway disease and has now been spelled.
  2. Portatorio (placed 3rd MNCRA Qualifier) – An ultrasound performed on the gelding found a core lesion (bowed tendon) on the right fore tendon and the gelding has now been retired from racing.

Accordingly, Racing NSW Stewards have permitted the withdrawal of both Awesome Pluck and Portatorio from the Newhaven Park Country Championships Final to be conducted at Royal Randwick on 7 April 2018.

Connections of the 4th placegetter in the MNCRA Qualifier, Shelly Beach Road, were offered a place in the Final which has been accepted.
