Applications For Positions Of Independent Directors (Scone)

Scone Race Club Limited (SRC) and Racing NSW are seeking applications to fill four (4) independent Director positions.

About Us
Scone Race Club is one of Australia's leading country racing organisations, uniquely positioned within the heart of the Hunter Valley, known as the horse breeding capital of Australia.

As the only country club in New South Wales granted the privilege of hosting a stand-alone metropolitan race meeting, the Club holds a distinctive place within the Australian racing landscape.

The Club’s main event is the two-day Scone Cup Carnival held each May featuring the Darley Scone Cup, a qualifier for the $3m Big Dance held annually on the first Tuesday of November at Royal Randwick.

Industry stakeholders and racing enthusiasts travel from across the country to attend the Carnival which showcases a mixture of Country, Metropolitan and black-type racing alongside vibrant celebration and excellent hospitality.

With over $2.4 million in prizemoney and a continually growing national profile, the Scone Cup Carnival is a key contributor to both the local economy and the broader racing industry.

We are seeking a forward-thinking, engaged and driven candidate to join the SRC Board as an Independent Director.

About You
Scone Race Club is seeking candidates who are committed to joining the Club and the shared goal in shaping its future as a revolutionary Thoroughbred racing and training centre within country NSW.

People experienced and qualified in law, accounting, business management, commerce, business development, sales, construction, marketing and event management or other key business skills are encouraged to apply.

Governance experience is highly recommended. While racing industry experience is advantageous, it is not essential.

Appointment Process
A Selection Panel, convened by Racing NSW, will review applications, shortlist candidates, and conduct interviews.

Final appointments will be made by Racing NSW based on the Selection Panel’s recommendations and the skills needed to complement existing Board members.

Special Conditions
It is important that members of the Board are free from any business or other relationship that could materially interfere (or could reasonably be perceived to materially interfere) with the independent exercise of that director’s judgment.
