Apprentice Brock Ryan has posted his first Rising Star Series victory for the season after winning heat 14 at Gosford on Wednesday.

Ryan won aboard Surreal Step ($3.10 favourite) for the Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes stable. The pair beat Samantha Clenton (Little Steiny, $8.50) and Tom Sherry (Moccasin Miss, $6).
Samantha Clenton has now climbed to second spot on the overall points ladder after her second place, picking up five points.
Qin Yong maintains a strong lead in the Series with 43 points, ahead of Clenton (22) and Yvette Lewis (21). Heat 15 will be run at Port Macquarie on Thursday 5th March.
