The group held their first morning tea for 2018 at Tamworth Jockey Club today and successful horse trainer and Racing Mates ambassador, Pat Webster, said: “It’s an excellent opportunity for those in the industry to get to know each other.

“We’ve run many of these morning tea get-togethers previously and it is a great opportunity for the racing community to come together for a chat,” Mr Webster said.

"People are often more likely to initially reach out to a trusted peer or colleague for support when in need.

Research has found that effective support offered from peers and colleagues can aid significantly in coping with stress and difficult situations.

“People are often more likely to initially reach out to a trusted peer or colleague for support when in need.”

Racing Mates has appointed several Ambassadors across NSW that are available as a port of call when industry participants are in need of a mate.

“There is nothing better than talking to someone who understands where you're coming from," Mr Webster, also an accredited Racing NSW drug and alcohol mentor, said.

“Myself, and all of our other ambassadors, are always there to have a chat when participants need to talk to someone.”
