In-Form Dylan Gibbons Certain To Feature At Muswellbrook (Sunday)

Dylan Gibbons, honing in on a spectacular century of winners in successive seasons, has to be the jockey to follow with the clout and numbers of Baker and the boss at Sunday’s Muswellbrook TAB meeting.

Kris Lees’s brilliant apprentice follows up with a full book at the popular Hunter track following prime rides at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday for Lees, Baker, Chris Waller and Kim Waugh.

In just his third season, Dylan Gibbons [pictured left] is a clear leader in the NSW apprentices' premiership with 94 wins, including his first Group success on Festival Dancer in his hometown Newcastle Spring Stakes, is sixth overall in the jockeys' title behind James McDonald on 117 wins.

At Muswellbrook, the added incentive is Gibbons has previously won on runners trained by regional heavyweights and in similar conditions to Sunday's present Heavy 8.

The Lees-trained Show Me Your Love is the $3.80 favourite on TAB, however, the horse is also entered for Newcastle on Saturday with Dylan's father Andrew aboard ($7) and is expected to start there.

Dylan also won at Tamworth on the in-form Cody Morgan’s Acrophobic ($16) who has a wide draw to contend with in the annual Shorty Cribb Aberdeen Cup 1280m, but back grade from the Tamworth Cup.

Dylan will be also hard to beat on progressive Baker winners Divine Okay ($3.60 fav) and Cinque Torri ($2.60 fav) in respective races.

“I’ve been riding at the trials, concentrating on Saturday with some nice rides, haven’t had a good look at Muswellbrook just yet. Acrophobic is drawn out in a big field, will need luck but big win previous start,” Dylan offered.

Muswellbrook is currently a Soft 7 with the slight chance of a shower on Saturday.
