Bigger Things Could Be In Store For Heartlet After Kembla

When your stable is the size of Kerry Parker’s you try to keep your horses apart but that has proved impossible for Porky Pies and Heartlet in the Kembla Grange Class 1 & Maiden Plate on their home track on Thursday.

“They are both looking for the trip now and it is silly not to take the opportunity to walk across and run on your home track,” Parker said. “I think they are both winning chances and if they were to run one-two I would probably be kicking myself because it will be like a win that has got away for me. They owned by the same owners which makes even more interesting.”

Heartlet is a half-sister to Parker’s city-class galloper Heartling and still holds an entry for the Queensland Oaks as she steps up to the 2000m for the first time.

"She has had four runs with a fourth over the Wyong mile [1600m] last start her best effort.

“She has always looked like a stayer and it was just a matter of getting her up to the right trip, which she gets on Thursday,” Parker said.

Porky Pies has been knocking on the door of a win being runner-up to Twilighter, a rival again on Thursday, over Kembla 2000m before not having the best of luck when third to Nothing Too Hard at Wyong over 2100m.

“He is very fit and just needs some luck to go his way from the wide draw to be in the finish,” Parker said.

Parker also takes Brad The Lad to the Tatama Pty Lad Class 2 Handicap on Thursday but admits he is hoping with him.

“You don’t which one of him is going to turn up if the good one does we are in business, if the other one does we aren’t,” Parker said. “He runs his best races at Kembla.”
