High Rush Set To Complete Hat-Trick At Wyong (Thursday)

By Gary Harley

Newcastle mare High Rush, unbeaten in two starts this preparation, is set to complete the hat-trick when she contests the final event, the Wyong Race Club-Membership only $55, Benchmark 64 (1350m) at Wyong on Thursday. The four-year-old has an outstanding fresh record and she led all the way first-up at Scone on April 8.

High Rush ($4.40 on TAB fixed odds) was impressive second-up over this course on this track three weeks ago when she outgunned her rivals in the run home. She has the impost of 59½kg but she did carry 61kg at Scone.

Samantha Clenton has ridden High Rush in both wins this preparation and the Muswellbrook apprentice has the mount on Thursday.

RACE 1, KOOINDAH WATERS-RACE STAY & PLAY MAIDEN, 1000M: River Bird is the odds-on favourite at $1.45 when she resumes from a five-month spell. The filly has won two recent trials at Warwick Farm and Canterbury. Last prep she was narrowly beaten in three Canterbury Maidens and she appears a class above these. She’s My Girl ($8.50) resumes after a long spell and she has won three recent trials. Manly Cove ($5) has a place chance.
SELECTIONS: 5 RIVER BIRD, 6 SHE’S MY GIRL, 1 MANLY COVE

RACE 2, CENTRAL COAST LEAGUES CLUB MAIDEN PLATE, 2100M: A wide-open affair with the three-year-olds The Boomerang ($4.60) and Prince Camelot ($4.60) leading contenders after they were both placed in the same race on this track on May 2. The Boomerang was run down late when second a long head behind Cleverly and that was only his second start. Prince Camelot was more than a length behind The Boomerang and he is also lightly-raced. Road To Blue Sky ($3.30 favourite) drops in class and is racing okay.
SELECTIONS: 10 THE BOOMERANG, 9 PRINCE CAMELOT, 4 ROAD TO BLUE SKY

RACE 3, CLUB TOUKLEY RSL 3YO MAIDEN, 1350M: Embracer ($1.22 fav) was beaten a length on debut at Warwick Farm on May 1 after racing outside the leader. He led all the way to win two Randwick trials before his first start. The colt is a long odds-on favourite as he steps up in distance. Smart Decision ($8.50) will improve on his first-up run and Task And Purpose ($8.50) has been placed at Warwick Farm.
SELECTIONS: 1 EMBRACER, 7 SMART DECISION, 2 TASK AND PURPOSE

RACE 4, TOUKLEY GOLF CLUB 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, 1100M: Blazing Miss ($2.40 fav) is a Group 3 placegetter with the speed to overcome the wide barrier. The filly was beaten less than half a length in the Gr 3 Widden in February and she was placed at Newcastle and on the Kensington Track. Blazing Miss won a recent Randwick trial by four lengths. Hey Mighty ($6.50) and Mini Boom ($5) are stablemates and both won recent trials.
SELECTIONS: 10 BLAZING MISS, 4 HEY MIGHTY, 11 MINI BOOM

RACE 5, WYONG ROOS FOUNDATION MAIDEN, 1100M: Set Goals' ($3.10 equal fav) only start was at Warwick Farm in January when placed behind two smart ones in Lashes and Kylease. The filly has had two recent trials and was narrowly beaten in the most recent trial at Warwick Farm. North ($3.10 eq fav) is a first starter with good trial form and Cops And Robbers ($5) has a chance if he mends his barrier manners.
SELECTIONS: 7 SET GOALS, 8 NORTH, 4 COPS AND ROBBERS

RACE 6, WYONG GOLF CLUB LTD CLASS 1, 1600M: Seeingisbelieving ($2.30 fav) has 60kg, however, he is in top form and should have a nice trail from the soft barrier. He was an easy winner first-up at Newcastle on April 13 and he just missed when narrowly beaten on this track on May 2. Pick Of The Day ($3.10) wasn’t far away first-up at Newcastle and she had sound metropolitan form last prep. Our Fun ($5.50) was an easy Kembla winner on debut.
SELECTIONS: 1 SEEINGISBELIEVING, 7 PICK OF THE DAY 2, OUR FUN

RACE 7, THE DOYLO LIFESTYLE GROUP CLASS 1, 1200M: Cinquedea ($3.50 fav) resumes here after a recent Warwick Farm trial win. He was an easy Gosford winner on New Year's Eve and he finished close-up in two other provincial starts last prep. Gorgons ($8) won impressively on this track on May 2 and she will run well. Battle Cry ($4.60) has been trialling well and he was an easy Gosford winner in December.
SELECTIONS: 2 CINQUEDEA, 7 GORGONS, 1 BATTLE CRY

RACE 8, WYONG RACE CLUB-MEMBERSHIP ONLY $55 B/M 64, 1350M: High Rush ($4.40) is unbeaten in two starts this prep and she will be hard to run down. The mare led all the way to win at Scone first-up then she won impressively on this track on April 24. Sam Clenton rides and she has 59½kg, however, she carried 61kg when successful at Scone. Sniponet ($4.80) has been placed in his past four starts and he is an on-pacer. Celer ($6) is knocking on the door after three runs this prep.
