James McDonald (Joliestar) “Great horses, and working with a fantastic trainer in Chris (Waller). It’s just a lovely working relationship, the horses are performing. He’s a champion and I’m just hanging onto the coat tails really.

“They are always turned out immaculate, they are here to win and as long as we get a little bit of luck throughout the race they do the job.

"(Beiwacht) was phenomenal. He got a lovely mid-race, Adam rode him beautifully, he got him into a lovely rhythm. When I peeled out I thought ”it’s her time to shine’, she’s had everything go her way. She was running down a really good colt and she’s a top horse herself, so take nothing away from the second horse he was really great.”

Joliestar wins the Canterbury Stakes

Adam Hyeronimus (Beiwacht): "Frustrating not to win. We got beaten by a superstar. He is back on track which is the main thing.”

Nash Rawiller (Lady Shenandoah): “She went outstanding. Just didn’t have a lot of luck early. Gringotts stayed off the fence a fair way early. Kept us pinned out there for a bit longer than I would have liked. Was hoping to come across in behind them. To her credit she got into a lovely rhythm from the 1000m onwards. Against today’s track bias I think she has gone amazing. Her last 100m was her best. Pretty exciting run.”

Tommy Berry (Gringotts): “In great order. We took him back today from an awkward gate first up. He is in for a good prep.”

Chad Schofield (Headley Grange): “Enormous first up run.”

Dylan Gibbons (Linebacker): “He just came out really lethargic so put our plan out the window. Loved the way he finished off.”

Jason Collett (Yorkshire): “Very good run.”

Rachel King (Encap): “He has gone super. He pinged the gates today and put himself into a good spot. Finished really well. He is in for a good prep.”

Zac Lloyd (Napoleonic): “He tried hard.”

Tyler Schiller (Nepotism): “I thought even though he has run last, I thought it was a great run. He has come back in better order than last prep. Just looking for a touch further.”
