RANDWICK – BEST BET: Race 5 # 3 – DECALOGUE

He profiles well for this assignment with multiple winning ratings, and he bolted in last start at Newcastle, running fast time relative to the day. Further, he sat handy to a genuine tempo, accelerated, but he pulled away late in dominant fashion, doing it with style. The gelding’s late sectionals and Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) performance lines up well against his opposition, and he has a positive race setup. In addition, he maps to control the speed, and he relishes rain-affected ground. Expect him to take catching and outstay his opposition.

RANDWICK – BEST BET: Race 10 # 16 – NITRO

He’s a lightly raced improver who should’ve won first-up at Scone but had no luck at a critical stage. The Snowden galloper trialled well leading into that first-up assignment but wasn’t suited to the race shape, had his momentum haltered and once clear he savaged the line to just miss. Further, his late visual strength was backed up by the clock, with the gelding clocking one of the meeting's fastest final 200m splits. He steps out to the 1400m for the first time, and the big Randwick track will suit his racing style. Expect him to have the last shot with a superior closing speed to his rivals.

RANDWICK – VALUE BET: Race 4 # 6 – JUST GLAMOUROUS

She’s been racing well/consistently all prep, and she was brave in defeat last start at this track in a high-rating race. The mare chased a very fast tempo and stuck on well whilst never shirking her task to the line. Further, she held on for fourth while the majority of the other on-pace runners faded, which added merit to her performance. She steps out to the 1600m, where she holds a solid record, and jockey Adam Hyeronimus sticks with her, with whom she has a strong affiliation.

NEWCASTLE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 6 # 2 – CELEBES SEA

She was ultra-impressive winning on debut at Kembla, and she smashed the clock, producing a figure that suggests she has well-above average ability. The filly was heavily backed late in the trade; she travelled well throughout and put her rivals away in a matter of strides. Further, she pulled away over the concluding stages, extending her winning margin and did it with style, pricking her ears on the line. The rise in trip is a positive, and she draws to have every possible chance.
