The 10-race card was pushed back a day after yesterday’s oppressive afternoon where temperatures skyrocketed to 40 degrees.
Bartolf, trained by the duo of John O’Shea & Tom Charlton, is a son of former champion performer So You Think out of Lesley’s Choice.
Bartolf, or Bartholomew, was a Scottish nobleman and founder of the Lesley Family, hence the name.
The stable is keen on his chances with the four-year-old firming from $6 into $4.40 in TAB markets.
Two starts back the gelding powered home to score over 1300m at Warwick Farm on October 22.
He followed that with a fourth (beaten 1.2 lengths) to Tuned at Rosehill.
Bartolf could be considered unlucky in that event as he did run into trouble halfway down the straight and took a while to balance up before motoring late.
The galloper is one of seven rides on the day for Jason Collett who will also handle Format ($7.50) in the previous race, the Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap (2000m) for the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable.
Also a four-year-old, Format won at Hawkesbury (2000m) three starts back and last time out was a close-up third to Sacrify at Canterbury Park (1900m).
Coincidentally, their main opposition will come from the O’Shea-Charlton trained Hurstville Zagreb (Adam Hyeronimus) who is the $2.80 favourite.
That gelding finished seventh last time to Brave Call at Kembla Grange (2000m) but the race was run in blinding rain so the failure can be forgiven.
