Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a good track.

8. Saffron Veil wins in one or two more bounds on debut and she looks well suited to turn the tables despite being the only maiden in the field. She has a 4kg weight swing in her favour, draws one and an extra 100m looks in her favour. Take beating.

Dangers: 1. Blessed Eagle was able to hold on and lead all the way to beat Saffron Veil two weeks ago in that 1100m maiden. As mentioned a big weight disadvantage for her but makes her own luck and sure to give a sight. 7. Sequinned hasn’t raced for five weeks since defying a betting drift to score at Kensington at the end of July. Up 5.5kg for that win but stays under notice. Both 2. Katoto and 5. Bring Me Chocolate have done nothing wrong and in the small field have claims.

How to play it: Saffron Veil WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

15. Waiheke Rose is on debut for the Waterhouse/Bott camp and her latest trial win was quite exceptional as she came from held up well off the pace to score narrowly. Don’t imagine she’ll be too far from the speed here with gate one and should run well.

Dangers: 16. Your Colour was unwanted in betting in a much stronger race when resuming and she did quite a handy job running on into fourth behind Steel Will. Better suited back to a maiden and has a good each-way chance. 12. Sing Your Song was a well supported favourite first-up at Canterbury and wasn’t disgraced in a close third after having to make a move coming to the turn. Fitter for it and trip looks to suit. 1. Nomadic was Group 3 placed at 1400m in the autumn and resumes having run fifth in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. Easiest race he's contested and no surprise if he's hitting the line well.

How to play it: Waiheke Rose WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

1. Appeared looks a promising stayer in the making and while he did get outsprinted early in the straight first-up you had to like how he wound up to score over the 1880m. Can only be better for it and the extra ground suits. Has to be hard to beat.

Dangers: 2. Forbidden Riff is the logical danger coming back from a Benchmark 78 where he ran not a bad race in sixth at Randwick. Placed behind Aethelwulf before that, though safely held, and can be in the finish. 4. County Kilkenny might be looking for a wet track but he could get some control up front here and if that’s the case could give a bit of cheek. 7. Proxima Centauri is going well in easier races and could measure up.

How to play it: Appeared WIN ($1.75 TAB Fixed Odds).

9. Motoscafo is very much a dry tracker and she gets conditions to suit her. Was right on the heels of the first two in a Midway last time out at Rosehill running a nice third, should be at peak fitness after four runs in and a good each-way hope in an open race.

Dangers: 7. Think Itz You comes through the same race, starting $31, and was okay in running fifth. Price cut here with the jockey change but mile will suit and looks an improver. 3. Leica Storm has been sound in two provincial runs this time in for thirds at Kembla and Newcastle. Won over this track and trip back in April and is in the mix again. 6. Flying From Above gave a good account in front when runner-up in Benchmark 78 grade at Rosehill. Claim and barrier one keeps him under notice.

How to play it: Motoscafo EACH-WAY ($9.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

11. Queen’s Gamble couldn’t have been more impressive as she swept to a dominant win two weeks ago. Takes the rise in class now but if she backs it up you’d imagine she’s headed for the longer legs of the Princess Series. Hard to hold out.

Dangers: 12. Thrill Hunter was a touch unlucky when resuming at Randwick then an even effort behind Steel Will at Rosehill in tough conditions. Draws well and shapes as though the trip will suit. Definite chance. 13. Asilah was beaten at $1.85 when resuming at Newcastle a few weeks ago, she had an ideal run in behind them but wasn’t able to convert running third. Beaten favourite over this track and trip before a spell too, fitter here and worth some thought. 7. Kakadu Sunset resumed with a nice third in a blanket finish at Canterbury a few weeks back and sure to strip fitter for it. Has a case to run well again.

How to play it: Queen’s Gamble WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

5. Without Peer looks a big price if he can recapture his best form or anything like it. In the market in both runs last time in, including beaten two lengths in a similar race fresh. Form around Ninja, Sixties and Attica this time last year reads well. Could surprise.

Dangers: 11. Sociable is bursting to win a race and bumped into Mr Miller when runner-up two weeks ago in this grade. Draws nicely again and will be around the mark. 3. Cavalry went under at $1.30 first-up last time in before two Newcastle wins and an 1800m Flemington placing. Can be competitive fresh at this trip. 6. Gus The Great chases a hat-trick after all the way wins at Gosford and Hawkesbury this time in. On the way up and sure to be competitive.

How to play it: Without Peer EACH-WAY ($19 TAB Fixed Odds).

7. Manukau charged home from the back when resuming two weeks ago to just miss third in a similar sort of contest. Fitter for it and while drawn out again there should be good enough speed for her to be effective late. Go well.

Dangers: 9. Rhia is an interesting runner first-up having put three country Victoria wins together before running fifth at Caulfield in January. Couple of jump outs, finds the leading jockey and draws okay. Big market check. 11. She’s Extra comes back in class after resuming in the Rosebud at Rosehill. She was an easy winner at this track at her second start and down in the weights she can be in the finish. 3. Fuadee produced a massive finish from a long way back first-up at Kembla overt the 1000m. Probably doesn’t concede quite the start this time from a better draw and no reason why he doesn’t measure up.
